FF Propaganda on the Six One News.

Without any introduction they began a piece on Latvia, a country which seems to have suffered even worse than Ireland from a bust. However despite the policies pushed on the government by the IMF/EU the government has been re-elected. Does anyone think there is any reason for this piece other than to show the good people of Ireland that FF deserve re-election?

The race for the Dail is starting now people, its time to join a party and start canvassing if you are genuine about not letting FF back into government again.

The last time an FF politician arrived on my doorstep, he only got verbal abuse. Next time he shows up, he'll never make it down the drive.

National TV station, what else are they gonna do, listening to RTÉ 1 on the radio coming home tonight and they were talking about a Labour guy who will be running in the Donegal South West race,ever second word was FF and Bertie,shows who is running the station and the Fianna Failers are running scared.

Also there economics guy with the receding hair line basically blamed "remarks by Enda Kenny over the weekend" for the rise in our bond yields on monday!!
unbelievable.

Even tonight tho the bond crisis was the third segment!! a windy day here in galway but ffs!! a national crisis and a few gusts of wind in galway trump that!!

Nothing new in RTE licking up to their FF masters...Joe "ordainiry man" Duffy, has been doing it for years. But lately he is getting really desperate.He is blatenly censoring anyone who speaks against FF on his Liveline show on radio 1. Then again if you were on E450,000 a year and almost 4 months holidays you might be like that too.. But then again would ya ?

I think you're being a bit cynical to be honest, and I've never really understood RTE to be particularly FF in outlook. A cursory glance at the Frontline or a listen to Sean O'Rourke should really disabuse anyone of that position. But it seems that people like to see FF fifth columnists all over the place, and reasonable analysis is hardly going to convince them otherwise.

As to the central point of your post, Latvia and Ireland are in the much the same boat. We're both practically bankrupt. Even by making the comparision, RTE is drawing critical attention to recent FF administrations. And, are you really suggesting that, whilst broadcasting an interesting and relevent comparison with another country, RTE should omit mentioning who holds power in that country? And that the Irish people are so stupid as to let that influence their vote? The former would suggest that you've no problem with media manipulation yourself, the latter would suggest an incredibly low opinion of the Irish electorate (although, given we have elected FF 3 times ina row, that might somehow be justified).

I thought it was more surprise at how the government got re-elected in Latvia.

I hate people who say we have to vote or pick a side...

I dont vote and will not vote this time either - the main reason being, who the fcuk have I got to vote for....whos ideals and policies can I agree with...nobody. It doesnt matter if FF, FG, LB, SF or Greens are in - nothing changed the last time they were in and nothing will change if they get in again...its the same people with the age old dinosaur mentality - same job, different faces.

using the word propaganda is a bit over the top, it's not like they had the latvian prime minister telling us to vote fianna fail. there's plenty of bad news to cancel out any positive fianna fail reports anyways!

Em, don't know how you managed to twist that nonsense out of my post but whether you agree with media manipulation or not it happens, that has nothing to do with me. RTE could not avoid drawing critical attention to FF administration, its there in black and white and to pretend otherwise would be a step too far. But to spend about 5 minutes or more talking about the green shots of recovery being seen in Latvia as a direct result of government/IMF&EU austerity measures provides a clear message for anyone willing to apply the slightest critical thinking.

Or anyone who likes to see pantoms where there are really none to be seen. Everyday it seems, there's a post in AH or politics about how RTE are in hock with FF, doing everything in their power to get them re-elected. And I have to ask, when I see those posts, do these people actually tune into RTE? Do they watch the Frontline, the news, even Primetime? And when I see someone complain that a relevent, interesting, and factual report on the situation in Latvia is some form of FF propaganda, then my exasperation just grows. I'm sorry you think my reaction is nonsense, but then I'd say the exact same thing (and include paranoud) of the recent slew of posts which see FF Quislings around every media corner.

If a party is formed with ideals and goals I am proud to support, then i shall be first in line...

We have no other options...and with an attitude like yours, people will vote for another party (take your pick) and will still be complaining about how **** the country is in two years...

We all shouldnt vote...make it void. Choosing another party is just plastering over the problems...for real change, we need something DIFFERENT in every way, shape and form.

Dont do that ..seriously.

They (as in any politican) expect it and simply dont take any notice of it.

If a Sinn Fein Head came to my door i would like to give them in a head in the face, but that would only be lowering myself to their level. An easier way to deflate them is ask them some questions about economic policy.

If you dont like FF, you will make a better impact by doing the same.. trust me on this one

No, it's just laziness, plain and simple. There's no other word to describe lumping FG in with SF. Their policies on cutting expenditure alone are completely different.

Also, if you feel so strongly about it, why not form your own party? I know of one boards poster who has done just that. But you'd just rather bang on about our appaling state of affairs without doing ANYTHING to address them. That's not noble or sticking it to the system, that's just apathy.

The opposition parties are awful. It new polititions we need and a total reform of our democracy .
