Hi all, I was thinking of getting a bmw 330d m-spec (year 2004). As far as I know they are a 3litre. I see on the motortax.ie website that a 3.0 is 1293 euro and a 3.1 is 1566 euro. Does anyone know the exact tax rate? I had a 2.0 litre audi a4 that while it had a 1998cc engine was taxed at a 2,001 to 2,100cc rate and not the 1,901 to 2,000 rate.

Why was your car taxed at a higher rate if it was 1998cc? that makes no sense at all. Either your information was wrong, or your local motor tax office was deliberatly stealig from you. Cars that don't fall into the new emissions system are taxed based on CCs, if your car as 1998 CC it shoudl be taxed in that band, and the 330d should be taxed in twhichever band it's CC falls into

:eek:thats nuts why would you pay tax from 2.0 to 2.1 on a car less than 2000 cc thats def not right. a 330d is taxed from 2.9 to 3.0 all 330d are i should know i used to have one ;)

just to back up the above poster, your 330d is 2993cc IIRC so taxed at the 1293e rate
