You're probably right to be fair. After Activision made an abomination of the COD series, I'd be surprised to see the very people (PC community) who go them to where they are today stick by them. I sure as hell won't be buying any more games in the franchise.
I'd say you're not exactly right with this statement. Personally, I didn't buy MW2. I played the single player, a tiny bit of the multiplayer in a mate's house, and I hated what they did with the game. So I left it. It was the first PC COD game or add-on I hadn't bought since Call of Duty 1, back in 2003. But I am going to buy Black Ops. It looks a lot more like what I liked about Modern Warfare (1), a game I played for countless hours. I know a bunch of my mates are also coming back for Black Ops, so it could be, not saying definitely, but could be a return for old COD players.

Oh yeah, Steam name- BuckTurgidson. Already joined the group.

Any clan wishing to add a channel on the server, feel free to PM me :)

So, Black Ops is out. I'll be on the Boards.ie TS3 and server tonight, might have a gander at TiG too. Anyone in?

I'm definitely up for it! Haven't made any contact with TiG yet (it's not necesarry, is it?), but I'm free for the night (got my fix of Dexter and House out of the way for this week) and would love to see what the Boards server is like :)

Assuming I have set my time/date settings for the forum set correctly - your post was made on 10-11-10, right? :P

I think it's just the TS3 server (address and port number), although it's a bit quiet in here at the moment...

All ive got to say is bring back the original COD tbh, apart from COD4 they have churned out nothing more than muck ever since.

I think it's good. Certainly not better than COD4 and definitely not better than MW2, but it's pretty good....

    At the moment:

    COD4>COD2>COD>BO>WaW>MW2>COD3

So it's middling. They just gotta sort out the issues and it'll be better (not a cod2/4 beater :P

A lag spike every 4/5 minutes for me, but other people are reporting worse

Same issues as cherry for myself, it's bearable (although, getting killed during the spike is liable to cause immense rage :P)

Well, that was a fairly fun evening overall... anyone know if there's a way to sell back your weapons? I've been foregoing using conventional weapons in favour of shooting knives and backstabbing people, with varying degrees of success. At least I incited a little bit of rage by playing one game entirely with knives :pac:

Yeah ffs you f'ing f'er! If there's anything that's going to make me ragequit, it's you :( :pac:

    You had a gun!

I think I'll swap the knives out for the LAW or something though, that way I won't be tempted to run around with no gun equipped. And, iirc, you were on my team (I think) when I made that guy rage at me... although, it is really satisfying to get the knife kill, run over to the corpse, take back your knife and do it all over again to some unsuspecting fool (knife is the arse cheek ftw :pac:)

Must check out Theater Mode tonight once I get home, I want to take a good look at that Semtex that I stuck to your head :pac: And perhaps that clip of when you flashed yourself, and still managed to kill me... If it's still there, that is
    Oh, the shame! /cry

You should be able to play it with relative ease. The COD4 engine is very versatile and a bit of tweaking would make it very smooth to play on

Ordering COD4 today methinks, I'll add ye on Steam, xfire etc. Just a few questions:
    • Are there stats, eg KDR on PC?
    • What exactly are these "servers"? Are they like Private lobbies?
    • Do you need a fancy gaming mouse for PC or will a regular one do me for a while?
    • Do you have to download Promod or is it just a sever you join?

    Welcome aboard :P

    - There's no stats on PC as the game is highly modifiable to alter literally anything in the game :pac:
    - Servers are like a dedicated lobby. It's hosted on massive and powerful data boxes from companies, literally meaning there is no lag ingame whatsoever. Servers allow control for whatever map, whatever mode, whatever mod the administrator wants. Most servers host up to 32 players so its quite hectic at times, some host up to 64 players and that's just utterly crazy.
    - Regular mouse will do just fine. Once you're used to playing with a keyboard and mouse and want to go a step beyond, then a cheap logitech gaming mouse would suit.
    - You don't need to download anything. In 'server browser' you can filter if you want to join a modded server or not. If you join a modded server, all the files will be downloaded automatically. There's literally hundreds of other mods besides promod. Promod is the worldwide competition standard for competitive gaming in COD4. Other mods include zombies, freezetag, nogravity, star wars, grenadetraining, mw2 maps, mw2/cod2 guns etc. Promod is the most popular :P

We normally use xfire to join games, as there's no ingame join option. Xfire allows you to basically join us before you even launch the game. Handy.
We use the boards.ie teamspeak (thread on it here) or Steam's voice chat.

    See ya soon :D
