I was there. The trouble started after i left. There was a great turn out, and really great atmosphere.

And for the record it was the culchies drinking. Didn't see any dubliners drinking.

God this annoys the crap out of me, apparently all thats left of the protest is a few students drinking cans, do they realise that they have stolen any level of credibility the protest had? Morons.. I will hold them somewhat accountable when I'm scrimping and saving this summer.

    No.

I'm for if the familiy/student can afford it, pay it, if they can't, get the grant.

But turning up at a protest looking for the tax payer to pay for your education while drinking cans of dutch gold while the tax payer works is f*cking down right retarded, I'm sorry.

Were you there? I saw about 6 people drinking out of thousands. We live in an alco nation you ll get **** drinking on the street at any event.

That little protest reminds me of Maynooth most nights of the week when the poor students spend their few bob and then fall out onto the streets.
God bless them sure they need to unwind somehow with all the study they have to do etc etc etc.

    Fookin leeches on society.

Most other countries don't let you freeload your way through education so shut up and pay the extra twenty quid a week if it helps secure your future.

I've not read this thread, but I want to say fair play to the students protesting. Unfortunately some people got hurt, which isn't right, but apart from that good on ye.

Pack of fecking tossers - the pubs are gonna be jammers this evening, was 30 mins late picking up my 5 year old becuase of them, i have never been late for picking my kids up and now am gonna have to brave the traffic chaos theyve created to get into work. If i see one of them and their stupid yellow tshirts i might try and run them over. That'll make me feel better.

Why can't your kid walk to school? Why do you have to clog up the damn roads chaffeuring your little sweety? After a few days of being WALKED by my mother the mile and a half to school when I started aged five I then completed the journey myself for the duration of my days in education.

    A mars bar. Singular.

Throwing a load would be funny, if accompanied by a song

Bull****, full fees should be brought back. I'm in an awkward position having repeated a year etc. which means that the council will pay the registration fee for me. But of course they're useless so it'll be another month at least before I get registered and can use the ****ing library. If there were full fees and loans there'd be none of this kind of crap, every university and college in the country could get rid of about a half dozen seasonal workers and another couple of permanent staff and save some real cash.
I had to take a loan from a family member to pay my first year fees which was fair enough, but full fees would've made it all a lot more simple.

The only people i saw drinking at the march were culchies. I know cause i heard their accents. It was like they made a day out of their trip to dublin.

Brilliant turn out today. Its funny people always say the irish sit back and take everything, yet when students do something about it some people moan.

If they were warned by the guards to move back when the batons came out and they didnt then it is right...

How fecking off topic is that post - dont make idiotic comments that you have no idea about

And what does your problems picking up your spoilt brats have to do with the validity or otherwise of a political protest?

Don't claim the high ground here or claim be representing the issues of commuters when you and your like are a bigger contributing factor the traffic problems in this city than a bunch of kids throwing mars bars over a railing are.

In fairness, you'd not want your wain walking through Dublin today.

It's sad to see what started as a legitmate protest be discredited due to the actions of the minority of people at the protest.

What extra twenty quid is that? The one that goes towards putting a roof over my head or the one that gets the groceries? Or is it the one that goes towards my 60e textbooks? The internet access I require to access course material? My ESB bill? Heating? Clothing?

Give me a break with the idiotic comments about students with infinite amounts of disposable income buying infinite quantities of dutch to drink in their infinite down-time.

As Forrest Gump once said, "The Irish government is like a box of Mars bars, you always know what you're going to get".

The €20 you spend on a taxi, nightclub entry, booze etc on a night out.

I agree with that tbh having seen it first hand. Won't happen in Ireland now at this stage though.

So you have zero social life currently and won't do for the duration of your course?

Does your college not provide you with internet? Few quid saved right there.
