Okay I'm looking to order in an AEG of ehobbyasia which I've had my eye on for quite some time but only recently after deciding definately on getting it, its fps is 300-320, before I order it in is there any specific requirements I need to fulfill with customs or will it get through not a bother because it's under the limit. I emailed ehobbyasia and they said that they'l provide information on chrono rating's with the AEG and it shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone ordered an AEG of them? Any information would be gladly appreciated:D

Ordered 2 AEGs from another asian retailer, even when I downgraded and counted vat and customs it still worked out cheaper. Keep in mind delivery and vat are huge when ordering from asia.

There's a number of local retailers willing to import items and take care of all the nuisance for you.

you would then have to factor in there extra charges for doing you this service.

Yup. But for the few extra quid you have a greater degree of warranty & service :)

Back to the OP, I have ordered from ehobbyasia and they are very quick on the delivery. Less than 5 working days. They use UPS, and make sure you have cash on you when expecting delivery. Cash is for the custom duty and can't remember about handling fee. I know Fedex definitely hits you with it.

Special mention regarding ehobbyasia. I recently got delivery of a motorola radio, suppose to have two batteries included. Only got one and emailed ehobbyasia, two emails later, without any hassle, got me battery.

Haven't got any new AEG in a while, so can't comment on any recent changes. A year ago was the last time I got an AEG with them, didn't have any problems.

Love the feeling of opening a new AEG....

in the item description it stated fps 300-320 and i emailed to see if this was with .20g's or .25 g's and they emailed back saying that chrono'd with both weights and it's firing under the 320 mark and if i want they can lower it down more for me but touch wood the day it comes in it'l be firing under the 320 mark :)

i thought the new laws last year banned personal imports. Are customs taking it seriously?

well i know a good few people who ordered aeg's in recently and got them without any hassle just as long as they weren't over the legal limit. But if it's the case of I cant order it in i'm sure a retailer could import it for me :)

The ban hasnt gone live yet ,wouldnt expect that to last much longer though

wow i thought it would be in force by now. I asked because i really want to order straight from the retailer but had the nagging fear my AEG would be interred. Better move quick

Well heres a strange one...2 days ago I ordered a pistol off RSOV and this is the response I got...

"we are sorry, but due to many reports saying there is problem to sending AEG orders to Ireland, we have to stop our service to the area"

so they refunded me. Figure that one out.

did you try and order via the express service or use ems as the method of shipping?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Chuck the Buck

That's because ems and airmail don't carry gun shaped things through Heathrow anymore (there's a few big threads about it on here) and RSOV won't ship out here because of that. You have to use a courier like TNT or UPS, I don't know if RSOV use them.

if you try deliveries always go for UPS and or TNT as they will ship AEGs and GBBs but not the ordinary couriers. tried it 2yrs ago but dont know what its like know.

For 320, make sure you have at least 65-75 on you, oh the driver don't give back change.

well i have 100 spare anyways after that so il keep that to cover the extra cost :) thanks for the feedback guys :D

Hi, I bought my l85 from ehobby last xmas. It was stopped by customs I was rang and told I had 3 days to prove it was under 1 joule and if not it would be sent to the gards I emailed ehobby and they were very helpful the sent me on a headed letter in an email telling customs that it had been downgraded to 328 fps.. I drove to shannon and gave them this and they released it straight away. They told me the main reason it was stopped Is that the chinese sometimes state the item cost less than you paid so they will have a smaller duty bill. Customs looked my l85 on ehobby up and saw it cost alot more than was on the chinese customs letter.. i sorted this out easily as luckily I had printed off the paypal receipt and was able to prove how much I paid. As long as you get them to downgrade it and supply a letter and keep paypal receipt you will be fine. Also be ready to get hit for 90 odd quid in import tax from customs/UPS for any regular sized AEG, thats on top off the ridiculous delivery charges you pay when ordering the AEG.
