Looking at getting a set of carbon aero wheels and wondering what peioples experiences have been with full carbon rims / brake pads / stopping etc. Seemed to be mixed views on reviews from various sites. Was looking at Corima Aero + wheels as one option

I have the DuraAce 7850 tub wheels and they work well in the wet. During the Ras of 2009 when it rained every day except the last I started on normal alloy wheels and the braking was terrible and after a few days I switched over to the carbon wheels and the braking was much better. We had torrential rain nearly every day.

I would advise to get tubs if getting carbon rims as the rim will be a lot stronger. and the Corima Aero + are a very good wheel.

Overall though you have to weigh up the extra costs of tubs and carbon wheels, especially for punctures and rim replacements? I also ride the DuraAce 7850 carbon laminate clincher wheels and find them very good as well.
