Thought I'd ask what made people choose their Avatars, as I'm bored.

--

I chose mine as there was no James Cagney or Al Pacino ones.

Bogart was the only actor there that I like and the fedora looks like something an outlaw might wear also, so ..two birds and all that.

Sometimes if people have a smiley Avatar, like Sparky for instance - I think they're joking all the time, when they're not.

I had Springsteen pics for a long time before that when I was a sunscriber but - can't afford to be doing that these days.

Outlaw Pete is a Springsteen song, so that was the reason that they were the pics.

I have noticed that, since I have had the Springsteen Avatar, if I joke in a subtle kind of way, it's not spotted or people take me far more serious than I am intended to me.

Maybe Bogart is kinda menacing looking, I should use more smileys I guess, to compensate.

I had recently bought the Doors biography.

Apparently they played in "Whiskey A-go-go" or somesuch.

...or maybe it was metallica. Can't remember!

Do you think people judge you? No, But they always make the same crappy recurring joke "Now...Agogo away!" Wan't even funny the first time.

Hey, Pete. Nothing to do with your thread, but there's a classic songs thread going and i found myself thinking, 'Where's OutlawPete'?
On Avatars; never went about picking one for myself and only see others occasionally; is it, as someone else alluded to previously, that, if you don't have one yourself, you only see them when logged out?

Do you think users judge you by theirs? - i presume this is supposed to be the other question because two of the questions in the Op's post are asking the same thing. Anyway i remember one other poster on Boards telling me he always hear Cartmans voice as he read my posts so i guess that proves that some people maybe do.

And if so, what would you change to to and why?- When i subscribed before i had it changed to a picture of Cartman dressed as Hitler because thats ****ing awesome no matter how offensive it might be.

I didn't choose an avatar because the generic ones are crap.

And for a forum that has a price of 50 EURO to be a subscriber for a year is "just over the top", especially since boards.ie has sponsers.

I admit the subscriber thing is a bit of a rip off, but at the same time, if people are going to pay for it, then no harm in charging for it.

I chose my avatar because I was disgusted with Eircom's "blackout" intentions not too long ago and because I like the colour black.

If I were a subscriber I'd choose something like this as my Avatar;

Because I think he looks pretty kick ass there, and my avatar on forums is usually that picture or one of him in 2002 with the mask (he's WWE's Kane, by the way).

The boardsie went to a lot of searching to find The One for me, and I liked it enough to change from Bret Hart to this.

I like cartoons. I don't even know what mine is now. I'll have to post to find out! Think it's the Coyote but I had Tweety bird before it.

Don't judge users on the. Generally don't notice them unless they are very unusual, Sharpshooters is sexy! You had some cool ones too which I noticed.

Don't think they judge on mine.

Have changed it when subscribing. K-9 and other Dr. Who stuff.

Yeah, I think so too ..

Plus, sometimes if I'm speed reading a thread, I'll stop at an Avatar I recognize as a user, to see what they've said.

Yeah, they do seem to catch the eye more so than the username, so I would agree with you there.
