Not as good as the promo led me to believe but a decent ep nonetheless.

Good episode alright, its getting interesting. We now know that Boyd did mean something when he told Dexter he didn't know what he was getting into. I assume that is why Lumen didn't get in the car with all the guys.

Good episode, as usual they saved everything shown in the previews for the last ten minutes. I'm going to do myself a favour and not watch any previews for next week. Just to be completely paranoid for a second, but I got a strange feeling watching it that LaGuerta knows more about Dexter than she's letting on, just have to wait and see I guess.

No I think she was addled because the man from Internal Affairs appears to want sexual favours from her in return for dropping the charges against Batista. At least that's what I thought the suggestion was.

    Poll added.

It was ok, not the greatest, but certainly not a bad episode.

Oh come on, she's gotta have concerns about Dexter. She knew Doakes wasn't the Bay Harbour Butcher and that he thought Dexter was, and now another cop thinks that Dexter is a bad apple.

She never believed Doakes though, who was her close personal friend, so she sure isn't going to believe Quinn over him... I almost wish she was suspicious because her character (last season too) is pretty much useless at this point, adding nothing but irrelevant "filler" plot points...

The episode was ok overall, not as strong as last week. One thing that irks me is how quickly Dexter and Lumen now seem to trust each other - sure, it required a "leap of faith" from both of them but Dexter doesn't even trust his closest family and for all Lumen knows, he could be as bad as Boyd (I don't think it's been established that she knows he only goes after killers).

I also missed how Dexter found Lumen's motel room in the first place - anyone care to fill me in?

Found Motel due to unpaid hotel bill lodged with court.

I thought for a moment that Lumen was going to confess to killing her family due to abuse but definately looks like she was being passed around a ring.

thought it went slow but that's okay because it was tying things together, probably setting things up for a fast paced episode five.

I really enjoyed it, i think the pace so far this season has been brilliant, you know its building to something, you see Dexter getting sloppy, more people are suspicious of him and with Rita gone he has so much stuff to juggle along with the pull of the "dark passenger", i think its been great!! Looking forward to next week!

Ahh I don't think them trusting each other is that much of a leap. As for Lumen trusting Dex. Dexter did save her from Boyd and had ample opportunity to kill or hurt her, neither of which he did even after she whomped him with a bottle and legged it and then sliced him with the knife. I'm sure she doesn't trust him explicitly or anything but there is no reason for her to believe he is going to kill or hurt her now if he hasn't to this point.

Plus it seems pretty clear that her family have been involved in whatever has been happening to her so she probably feels she has no one whatsoever that she can trust. Then Dexter comes along and tells her he killed Boyd because someone like him killed his wife and he doesn't want it happening to anyone else (it was fairly well established between them at that point, or at least heavily implied, that he goes after people like Boyd or the man that killed his wife) so it makes sense she would be at least hopeful that he could help her and it would be worth the risk for her to trust him.

As for Dexter trusting Lumen, well he didn't have much of a choice. He doesn't kill the innocent. He even mixes that up when his dad asks him what the first rule of the code is. Saying "don't hurt the innocent" when it is actually "don't get caught" which suggests his priorities are changing. Which is fair enough as we have seen significant character development from the first series to now. Again he probably doesn't trust her explicitly but his only real options were kill her (which he refuses to do) or trust her to some extent.

All makes perfect sense to me.

But there has to be doubts there. She didn't think he was the butcher so she's gotta wonder who it was. If this were the last season I'd almost say she's been onto Dexter for a while but I can't see them leaving it til the end of next season.

    Perfect episode.
    Two points.

Lads dont watch the ****ing teaser trailers before you watch the episode.
Episode made perfect sence, havnt a clue why ye are trying to pick holes in the plot. No need to go into it, just read Strobe's post above, I'd only be reapeating what he said.

However unlike Quinn,Doakes never intimated that he had suspicions that Dexter was the Butcher. He never mentioned Dexter's name to Maria so there is no reason why she would ever have any suspicions about Dexter.

He didn't? Could've sworn he did. Fair enough if he didn't, haven't watched season 2 in a coupla years.
