Chinook Pilot Takes A Glanceing Headshot, Then Flies Home
Watch as the British pilot of this Chinook takes multiple hits, including a glancing shot to his own head, on a troop extraction run in Afghanistan.
The Chinook took multiple hits severing a hydraulic line, raking the fuselage and windshield with rounds.
Watch as the pilot takes a glancing ricochet to his left temple and manages to keep his wits about him, saying "Ok chaps, just to let you know I took a round through my front windscreen which came up and hit me on the head."

A gigantic Navy MH-53 Sea Dragon helicopter gets gobbled up by an even bigger Air Force C-5 Galaxy transporter.
Well, technically, this Air Force C-5 Galaxy Transport is vomiting out a Navy MH-53 Sea Dragon at the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, North Carolina. But we can assume it probably looks the same going in as it does going out. The chopper's in horrible condition because it was yanked out of an aircraft "bone-yard" in 2005 to help aid the Marines in their growing military and humanitarian missions.
The massive MH-53 was developed as a better generation of helicopter originally created by Sikorsky in the 1960s. The choppers were retired from combat duty in 2008 and replaced by the V-22 Osprey, but a few are still seeing duty as support aircraft for humanitarian missions in Pakistan. In MH/HH-53 form it can carry up to 55 troops and 30,000 pounds of cargo.
So imagine how much that big-ass C-5 can carry.0 -
