United made 100m+ this year..... but they lost 140m or something similar in repayments.

    liverpool made 60m+ this year....but lost 80m in repayments(approx)..

figures are prob. wrong but you get the jist.:essentially,if they don't get rid of their debt, they're fucked.... where's ronaldo's money gone>>>

Manchester United is the best run business in the Premier League and we have been for 20+ years now.

There is not a chance we will go bust.

won't go bust....but a business which was the first in football to break the 100m barrier in a year and still record a loss does
    equal a well run business.

Doubt Villa's fitness would have any effect.

Perfect for a high tempo system, intelligent player, good movement. Technique might let him down at times, but he has enough to make up for it.

    Busquets-Xavi-Iniesta

    Messi-Villa-Rooney

Is Rooney gonna match Pedro's 20 + goals a season out wide ?

Will play be directed to rooney who is slower than pedro , or messi who is even faster than pedro.

Looks good on a Fifa11 line up but not in real life imho

If it's in the bank what's it doing there in terms of interest? Is it offsetting the debt or is it earning interest of its own?

    I don't think you've considered 'real life'.

Yes, Rooney would match Pedro's haul, because Rooney has played a similar position at United and has scored and assisted similar. The best player in that position for Barcelona was Henry, and Henry-Eto'o-Messi was a "FIFA line-up" and was that not one of the best and successful attacks ever in the modern game. And, similiarly to how Henry cuts in for a shot, Rooney prefers to cut-in from the left to set-up a shot or cross for his right foot - it's goal-time if a defender encourages Rooney to cut-in.

Rooney's best position is through the middle, but he'll do a better job than Pedro on the left-flank.

The Gauardian reckon if he goes it will be to another English club as his wife has a sick sister and would be unwilling to move.

Only 2 clubs could afford him in England.

If Rooney signed for Man City, it would freaking kill me. I'd find it very hard to watch United being torn apart by the debt (in terms of the actual team suffering) and I'd find it very hard to watch the premiership in general with Rooney playing for another side.

I guess that would be the Glazers preferred choice as it means the highest transfer fee available out there.

Personally I think even without Rooney Utd have easily the strongest first 11 and squad in the PL so there no need to reinvest any of the transfer fee received especially as theres no value these days in the transfer market. No, its better to either service the debt for another few months or else give the shareholders the dividend they richly deserve for all the inward investment they have pumped into the club. I would also recommend you all invest in Anglo.

If he goes it'll be the summer IMO. No ones gonna buy him in jan when he is cup tied and coming off/still on a horrendous run of form. So it'd be the summer, and I sense a fair few Utd fans would be very disappointed at the fee at that time too, one year left on his deal, tarnished reputation for marketing purposes, refusing to sign a new deal.... I think the price could be 'relatively' cheap.

With the exception of Ronaldo, every player we've sold in the Ferguson era has that attached unfortunately.

Rooney has had a torrid start to the season, a very underwhelming World Cup before that, but a great season before that. its been 6 months at least since I've thought he could hold up any team single handedly.

I'm not so sure I'd like to take the risk he will come back to form. But the way SAF, MU and Rooney himself have handled this, it has some parallels with Ronaldo.

Is it a case of him being too greedy? is he holding out for more? F knows, but this could be a blessing in disguise for Utd if they can spend the money he generates.

    Very good :D

Ironically, I wouldnt be surprised to hear Ferguson use that exact speech - and a lot of fans will believe him!

yeah, but if SAF says it, tbh i always think hes got a plan noone else sees. or knows about. or could imagine.

I hate him for that, but he can get the best out of what I see as in general, a very average bunch with a few top class players.

Even if they could spend all the money he generates it would be a disaster.

In reality what will happen is that he will be sold, the money will disappear into a black hole, Scholes & Giggs will retire and we'll be, to use the scientific term, fúcked.

I'm hoping that this is all just bluster and hard blowing, but I'm worried that it's not.

Yeah, cause the bit about investing in Anglo wasn't a hint.... or the dividend the owners are clearly entitled too following all their inward investment.

    My tuppence worth is this:

Rooney wont be moving. Sure there is a bit of tension between him and Ferguson, but its been picked up and run by the papers to an unbelieveable extent. I`m sure this has been fueled by Rooneys agent as he tries to negotiate a huge pay day for Rooney with a new contract. In fact I would say that his agent is most to blame for the hysteria in the media over it.

Of course I could be completely wrong, as most on here seem to believe the story. We may find out more at 2pm with Fergies press conference, but as it stands I dont think theres an ounce of truth in the story that he wants to/will move.

The reporters may ask during the press conference today, but Fergie will not give a proper answer. imo.

I think Ferguson will start the conference with "No questions about Wayne please" or words to that effect.

I always did like that Wenger chap.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6453341,00.html
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is convinced Wayne Rooney will remain at Manchester United.

Speculation has surfaced in recent days that the 24-year-old England striker is poised for an Old Trafford exit in January after his negotiations over a new contract broke down.

Rooney, whose relationship with Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have turned sour, has been linked with a move to United's fierce local rivals Manchester City or Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Gunners boss Wenger, however, feels Ferguson's decision to leave Rooney out of his starting line-up against West Brom on Saturday has been blown out of proportion, and is confident the former Everton man will not be moving on.

Quoted in the Daily Star, Wenger said: "Rooney is a great player. I am convinced he will stay at Manchester United because it is his club.

"They have the power to keep him. When you give a great player a rest, you have a story. Rooney is Rooney. He will stay where he is."
    Surprised

Rooney's existing United contract expires in 2012 and Wenger added: "I am surprised his contract has been allowed to run.

"But, basically, I don't know why. It can happen many times.

"What I know for players like Rooney today only three or four clubs can buy him. For Rooney, it will not be a financial choice.

"He will decide if he stays. He would say, 'Old Trafford is my home, I will stay there'. And Manchester United would turn up with the right number. He knows that. They know that."
