Sounds daft I know, but what's the correct way to word a wedding invite; or what's the 'done' thing??

Also is there anywhere worth checking out online for invites or are you best to stick with an actual print shop??

Well it depends on how traditional you want to go, and who is hosting (or paying) for the wedding. My guy and I are using "Together with their families, (my name) and (his name) request the pleasure of your company at the celebration of their marriage" and then onto all the normal details re: date, location, etc.

We're paying for our wedding though. If my parents were contributing the norm would be more like "(my parents' names) request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter (my name) to (his name)".

A more formal route is to use "honour of your presence" instead of "pleasure of your company", but both are fine etiquette-wise.

The price of invitations can be insane. We're ordering from the US--www.weddingpaperdivas.com. Have ordered some samples and they are a lovely quality and finish, and with really unique styles.

    Have fun :)

can you let me know how you get on. US sites seem way cheaper than here even with shipping. Im concerned that I will get hit with a hefty bill from customs though.

Sure thing, will be ordering after Christmas but am happy to spread the word if it's a good product/service.

From their website re: custom charges:

When save the date postcards, save the date magnets, wedding announcement postcards or items from our Letterpress and Thermography Collections are shipped internationally, customers may be subject to customs and/or brokerage charges in addition to a Goods and Services Tax due to UPS at the time of delivery. Wedding Paper Divas is not responsible for any additional duties or taxes associated with international shipping for these types of items.

Choose wisely and you won't get stung!
