Brother has been away for the past year and on arriving back yesterday he switched on his irish phone, on O2 and got a message saying emergency calls only. So, he went off and bought some credit but when he keyed in 1741 to add it, the same message still appeared. Any ideas?

The phone and SIM worked fine when he last used it last year.

Call O2 about it? See if it's an account thing?

The sim has been deactivated. If its less than 12 months since he used it, he can get it reactivated with one call to customer care.
