My family name seems to have died out in Ireland. (I live in Wales)
But my great grandmother's family name was Hutchinson. That seems to have been common, and probably still is.

I was just curious as to whether I have any known relatives in the Dublin area anymore. (Known to them anyway)

So are there any Hutchinson's out there who have links to the Robinette/Robnett/Robinet (et al) family??

No, I am not trying to get in touch, I am simply curious as to whether there are others who managed to trace the Hutchinson links back further, as there seem to be a lot of them and I am uncertain which thread to follow.

I could be wrong but the chances of someone name Hutchinson who knows that they are related to someone named Robinette and who visits this forum is probably not very large.

You never know though...

Ponster, I agree but as I said it was a matter of curiousity. You never know do you? Especially if someone called Hutchinson sees what Johnny Doyle has posted. I suppose it is a long shot, and I don't really mind that. You never get anywhere if you don't try though.

I would be interested to know who and when the first Robinettes (or however it is spelled in those times) arrived in Ireland.

Obviously it is a French name rather than an Irish one. I am just not sure where to look for the earliest records.

they came circa 1660 and were among the early Huguenot settlers in co. cork.

they were goldsmiths and trades men. Look up huguenot settlements in Irelad by samuel smiles. then the pdf will availabe for downloaDING. THEY SETTLED WITH GAMAGE, QUARRY AND TERRY FAMILES AMONGST POPULAR HUGUENOT SURNAMES.

She has a massive amount of my misc research. It is meant to save you some time perhaps you can piece some of the pieces together. It is by no means all of the records, but certainly a hell of a good start. If I had a week in Dublin and kew archives I could tie up so much.

Hi there.

My great great great grandmother was called Anne Taylor. Hr family had a long, long history with 55 Charlemont Street.
Her sister Elizabeth Taylor married a man called William Hutchinson and his relations married Robinetts...so I am a very distant relation!
