There is recoil in Call of Duty games?

Yeah its so annoying, I prefer when i shoot my gun once and it flies out of my hand, landing behind me, the scramble to pick it up is thrilling.

Im guessing you have never actually played an fps with recoil.

Or where you aim isn't always perfect and near instant.

In Arma you almost need planning permission to aim accurately. It was fantastic.

There was some recoil in Cod4 but none in MW2 (ACR anyone?) Steady aim pro could make any gun behave like the ACR assuming there is some recoil in Black ops

Just to point out recoil is the energy emparted on the user of the gun from the shot (Newtons 3rd law), what we experience in in MW2 is called muzzle jump. Its experienced in long bursts of fire, a single shot causes the muzzle to jump upwards slightly, if the cycle of the weapon is shorter than the time it takes for the muzzle to go back to the standard idol position it propogates and increases again. In real world applications it can be counteracted by using a muzzle break OR a silencer (to a lesser degree) These weigh down the muzzle and in the case of muzzle breaks some models also re direct the exhaust gasses upwards also helping muzzle controll.

You can see the cycle effect in action on the m4a1 in game, it packs a nice punch but stays very stable on full auto bursts because the cycle of the round action is almost the same time as it takes for the muzzle to return to a rested position, same with the acr. A silencer weighs the muzzle down making full auto more controllable. On the opposite side the TAR-21 has a very fast cycle time and full auto on that will resut in extreme muzzle jump. The ump 45 is probably the worst for this in game.

Continuing efforts to prevent cheating in multiplayer, Call of Duty: Black Ops will not allow party chat in some game modes.

Search and Destroy, for example, offers high potential for people to cheat by sharing tactical information with the opposing team.

Those of us playing fairly are inconvenienced because we just want to have a fun time and kick back with friends. Developer Treyarch realizes this and is trying to make adjustments. Team Deathmatch will allow party chat in Black Ops, a change from Modern Warfare 2.

This question is for the cheaters, everybody else can skip ahead to the next paragraph. What exactly do you gain from cheating at Call of Duty, other than ruining the experience for everyone else? It’s really sad that I can’t have a fun match and talk to my friends while playing because you want to pad your stats. You’re still not good at the game or you wouldn’t have to resort to collusion with the other team. Now back to our regularly scheduled news item.

This is the first Call of Duty game released after the Infinity Ward debacle, so there may be even more scrutiny than usual.

I doubt anything stops this game from selling millions upon millions of copies. Treyarch is even including a Zombie Mode. Zombies also appeared in the Treyarch’s last COD effort World At War.

    .

Wait so say there's a party of 4 in TDM and for whatever reason it's 3 on Team A and 1 on Team B, we can talk together in Black Ops as if we were on the same team? And we're not allowed to do so in SnD and other game modes?

    I'm confused

i think on xbox they can set up an xbox live party chat but be in different mw2 partys and still communicate, or something to that effect.

This game does need recoil. Something like...apon firing a single round your gun should fly back and crack you in the face and knock you straight into last stand. Anything less is unacceptable

Campaign Trailer - looks amazing :)

That looks pretty cool, not that I'll be spending too much time with the single player campaign though!

I heard that there is going to be 15 prestiges , 50 levels.

I heard it was just to level 50 too, but I heard somewhere there's only 5 prestiges. I dunno though. 15 would be way too much.

I'm inclined to agree, 15 is too many. I thought that the 10 for MW2 was pushing it at times..

5 prestiges is plenty, it'd cut down on the amount of cheaters and kids wanting the callsigns and camos if it was easier to actually just get them, gotta say I'm really excited for this, the new features and tweaked existing ones are all point to Treyarch really stepping up with the series, no doubt there'll be niggles and faults but it might restore some of the "community" aspect to the COD community that MW2 destroyed.

What i'm looking forward to most is when Multiplayer's new to everyone. There's no annoying stuff because people don't have a clue what to do. It was the same at the start of MW2, i thought it was the best game ever. There were no eejits trying to no scope every two seconds, very few grenade launchers, no One man army rocket launchers and no tactical knifers. It was Fantastic. Got my KDR up to 5.0 for about a week, then people started copping on.

In fairness, those are problems with the people, not the game.

I expect that Black Ops will be a repeat of what happened with WaW.

What happened with WaW? (Never got to play it online..)

    From the COD wiki:

"In Call of Duty: Black Ops, players can Prestige at the highest rank of 50. Unlike previous installments of the series, the maximum amount of Prestige levels is not 10, and is classified at the moment"

There are also rumors that Prestige will be based on time played, rather than XP earned. E.g Play X num of hrs to reach Prestige level 1.

I'm not claiming this as fact or anything, but here are some links about it.

Basically the online elemtn started off very well, but Treyarch set it up to be different from MW.
Before long, hordes of 'people' put it down and went back to playing MW, those left playing WaW used to have great, hassle, cheat and n00b free COD gaming.

I know a few people who, still go back to playing WaW online after getting a pain in their tits with MW2.

I just think its the demographic the game attracted tbh, I mean the general age on xbl is around 16 or so but MW2 with its pre release teases of crash wizz bang, everything blows up, Micheal Bay style movie game to the backing track of the teenage boys very own Eminem attracted the very undesierable 15/16 year old american wanna be that ruins the game.

Its why i wont be buying black ops and opting for the more mature MOH instead. (That and black ops graphics / colour pallet looks appauling)

Exactly, but thankfully with the dedicated servers that are promised to return you can add rules to servers or make mods to remove annoying aspects.

Except on consoles, but they're doomed like a life annoyance.

Serves them right for console gaming :pac:
