Saloon car recommendation

Can anyone recommend a reliable used 1.6 diesel saloon car with ESC (stability control)? I'd settled on a Mazda 3 but: they only introduced ESC on the entire range in the Republic of Ireland in 2009 so few are available whereas in the UK, where it has been available for over five years, the saloon version is uncommon. I'd settled on a Mazda 3 but:

The Ford Focus saloon as had ESC as standard in Ireland since April 2008 - that could be an option?

Same chassis, ford is the cheaper option.
