Why? These are pretty serious allegations.

10 cops beating up a suspect. That ought to be investigated.

Refusing medical care to someone who was allegedly beaten up by 10 gardai. That ought to be investigated.

It might be a pile of nonsence, but, if it isn't then the guards have a lot to answer for, scumbag or not.

Anyway, who is sueing who? It looks from the article that this is a criminal case being brought by the DPP.

Are you serious. Investigate this investigate that? Why not put him up in the plaza while he awaits trial!

The real scum here is the gardai, which is usually the case, 10 of them battering a poor man half to death. Just because they can.

****ing pig should rot in prison, they will take care of his arse in there....dirty pig ****....

Poor man?? Go on away! Do that in any other country.. USA SPain England even and you will get worse than a hiding.

Oh ya and pig isnt even an insult anymore its just another way off sayaing garda!!

Yes. The guard deserves a fair trial. But I think he got bail so there's no need to put him up anywhere:rolleyes:

And that's exactly why you are not one of those guards. It would have come out in the test that you are a power-hungry yob who would quite easily take the law into your own hands and murder suspects rather than doing the job you were paid to do.

Well in fairness i think in this case the yob driving the stolen car at speed through the city was more than " a suspect ".

Typical Ireland. Protect the scum. How much do you think it costs the state/ tax payer for 10 gardai to chase this waste of space, file reports, damage to property, damage to garda property not to mention scare the life out of kids tourists or anybody in the area at the time

If the beating was that bad im sure there were plenty of other people who would be willing to give evidance!

Ya and im sure the junkie will make his own way to court. Turn up in a bentley or something similar that he "borrowed" from someone passing by!:D

The trial is ongoing. We don't yet know what evidence is going to be given.
Did you even read the OP before throwing in your 2c?

I did indeed thank you for asking. Didnt hear one complaint either on the radio for the poor crater!

Whats that old saying " Dont do the crime.. if you cant take the beating (of a garda or 10) "

God people are sad who are sticking up for the scumbag who is a druggie robbed a car, possibly nearly killed/put in danger other road users, pedestrians and Gardai risking their lives to catch him..

..you wouldnt care what the Guards done to catch this loser...he prob refused to get out of car and resisted arrest so they had every right to use force..the prick prob neva requested that he wanted a doctor and the cash signs started in front of his eyes..it will be me and you paying for this court case and when he walks away with our money..and for what being a scumbag his day will come

Those people who stick up for him and slate the guards doing their job are extremely small minded people who prob got in trouble themselves and cant deal with a bit of law..

..i had dealings with the guards before when something happened me and i have to say they were brill nobody sees they real work they do behind closed doors

I second that. I can see the other posters point in argueing with me about witness etc but in fairness only in ireland would we go to the trouble of investigating this bull instead of throwing the book at the guy

    Four words that I think everyone would do well to remember;

    Innocent until proven guilty.

At the moment that Garda is by law not guilty of anything and deserve a fair trial, not people assuming he's guilty on the word of a drunken, drugged up criminal, which it seems a lot of people here are doing whether they admit it or not.

How about you read the thread and my replies to other peoples posts! Im saying that the state will spend a fortune on this when its not like they chased the STOLEN vehicle .. and then battered an old man walking past. They apprehended a criminal and because the guy has bruises or claims he asked to be taken to the doctor there is a big song and dance about it!

wtf.."copper battering an innocent man" take some of your own advice thebullkf...total contradiction there..

..as someone already suggested innocent until proven guilty

i don't think thats the case Audrey, mypersonal point of view has been well documented.
i think its rather the opposite- if the person was a single pregnant mother dragged out of the car-as opposed to a junkie, i believe there would be more sympathy.

Not if she had stolen a car at knife point and was up to her eyes on drink and drugs there wouldn't be.

so your comparing a single pregnant mother to a drugged up scummer..ya thats gona happen! junkie deserved everything he got if not more..you'd have no sympathy if it was your car he took or knocked you down

Isn't that a euphemism for applying the law rigorously?

Fig. to charge or convict someone with as many crimes as is possible

    Ah yes I know :)

I was just trying to make the point that a persons social class or personal circumstances don't make a difference when they do the things this man did.

The only posters here assuming he is guilty are the ones who think its a good idea for the gardai to beat up criminals.
