Ray Ban optical frames - counterfeit???

Recently lost my Ray Ban reading glasses and after weeks of hunting for new frames I might like, I decided to just replace them with the same thing!

Bought them online from a site that appears to have every possible frame you could want. The arrived with the lenses 2 days later. Great, I thought until I tried them on and they are ever so slightly different from the ones they are replacing. And the flexi-hinges are stiff. One when flexed out, stays put! One arm is slightly bent, only slightly but bent non the less!

So now I'm in a row with the guy who owns the company. He is refusing to refund me in full what I paid. He will only refund what I paid for the frames not the lenses. Or I can send them back to him and he will put some silicone in the hinges to loosen them up. He also suggested they would loosen up with time! :eek: I don't think he's going to budge on the full refund so I will probably take out the lenses for a frame only refund and hope to god they will fit in the frames I will buy elsewhere.

Anyway, is there any way to tell if they are genuine or counterfeit, or even factory seconds, is there such a thing??

Would it be easy enough for an optician who sells Ray Ban frames to know if they are kosher or not? Would they mind me asking them??!!

And should I have got a certificate of authenticity with them? I know I did with some Prada frames I got before but can't remember if I got one with my old lost Ray Bans.
