Buying MP3 Player (novice)

I have decided to buy myself an MP3 player. I have never had one before. It will be mainly used when i am out running (i tried to do a bit of exercise earlier in the year, but i found i got bored easily and someone told me they had the same problem until they purchased one).
I looked at some online and noticed that some look like a USB Key and others look are smaller version of a personal stereo (i am an 80's kid).
I was wondering what would be the main differences in these.
Any advice on what to look for would be appreciated.

I would say the sansa clip + would fit the bill, if you are using it for running as there is an actual clip on it so you could clip it to your shirt while running , it is not much bigger than the size of a stamp so you would hardly know it was there ,i would imagine. Cost about 50-60 euro. Details here
