Brian's boots?

Just out of curiosity, has Brian O'Driscoll lost his adidas boot contract? Or is he holding out for a new deal from adidas or another supplier? I noticed he was wearing a blacked-out pair on Saturday...........unusual to say the least!

Not unusual at all. You see it often in pro sports. It may be he's in negotiations to renew his Addidas deal, he could even be about to start a deal with someone else...

Sorry, yes, I have seen it before, I meant unusual for Brian as he was such an adidas stalwart.

mentioned O'Driscolls boots to a mate and he was of the opinion that Adidas and other brands give players a demo model of a new boot there making to try out. I've seen it in the Premier soccer before too

That would worry me slightly. Comparatively speaking metatarsal fractures are less frequent in top level Rugby players compared to soccer players, which is surprising given the potential for (absolutely accidental) stamping/rucking of the foot by own/opposition players.

So I would hope that to maintain that less frequent type of injury and as light as the new Adidas R7's may be that there is some impact protection built in as part of the design.

Thanks for that! They could still have stripes methinks.....if you're adidas and paying Brian big money to wear your boots you'd think you'd want to take every opportunity to advertise that! Or maybe they're relying on nerds like me to post on boards and ask what's going on here? I think not......
