Is it possible to find out if a car is insured simply by its reg plate?

    basically a guy reversed into me the other night and then drove off,he didnt do much damage but i still want it fixed. I have 2 witnesses who saw him reverse into me, but all i got was his reg.

    Doesnt really matter if he is insured or not.

    The MIBI would pay out if he is not insured.

    Either way contact the Gardai.

    Just someone scratched your car and drove off. You never know who.

    Would MIBI also pay then?

    For property damage no. If your car is damaged and you cannot identify the perp, you cannot recover for the loss

    Also they have no way of knowing that a third party actually caused the damage.
