Well, not quite, but it has caused a blistering row among our neighbors and close friends.

So, yesterday we decide to look at our street on the maps, prior to me stopping off in Honalulu and then New York city... we sent a link to our neighbour of our house and theirs that are beside each other and with the link sent a message.. is there tax on that van? I think there will me a knock on your door soon.. along with some "lols" "smilies" and a few "hehehehe's".

Anyhow the missus called out for a cup of tea and was met at the door with dragon eyes "WHY DID YOU PUT OUR HOUSE UP ON THE INTERNET!!!??? NOW EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD CAN SEE WHERE WE LIVE!!"

My missus tried to explain the concept of Google Street Maps and that it wasnt us that put it up, but google itself... sadly it wasnt sinking in.. i believe as i type this i can still hear them screaming at each other.. so ive come to AH for the relative solice and peace

In the meantime there is a picture of me on google maps which looks like im pissing into a skip, when in reality im trying to quench a fire some turd started...

    Google Maps i hate you

    Hate that!

I also have to laugh at the amount of people who think it's all live. Even my mother who's nearly 70 and not well up on technology knows it's photos!

If the neighbours are that stupid, maybe you're better off falling out with them, that level of dopiness could be infectious...

Has anyone tried the port tunnell?

Has anyone tried the port tunnell?

It works but it goes a bit weird when there's another road overhead. For some reason it's listed as the M1 even though it has the M50 junction numbers. The actual maps have always been fairly ****e for Ireland though.

About a quarter through the tunnel

I can see my house from two sides despite it being in the countryside and they comically stitched a section together that makes a van look like it is squashed like some kind of clown car and and at one view the Bin lorry is in the way.

Also this thing about privacy. Privacy is a modern invention because we are growing further apart and no longer know each other whereas in the old days everyone knew everything about everybody and nobody gave a damn and suddenly the prospect of that now frightens some people. Well it's an interesting concept.

I actually think its quite cool, and its gas to see places I only heard about as a kid semi-live in front of me...

As one who travells a lot, it will be invaluable in knowing my way around before I go somewhere. It does not work for Serbia yet though...

A dark use for it will be its invaluable for military operations if a war ever started. Of course only the Americans could use it... they can restrict access from anywhere they desire.

    Big Brother and all that...

They seem to have stopped completely on the road up to my Nans about a mile before her place.

Any reason, did they just get bored and turn around?

Same with my parents' place, but their road isn't even on Google Maps.
