there is a strong element of scaremongering and too much fear in some parents leading to to much sterilising which in turn leading to kids getting sick as they are not exposed to bacteria.
Also sunscreen, kids are slathered in the stuff and many are now vitamin D deficient which is produced in the body when exposed to UV radiation. This results in lots of autoimmune deficiency related diseases, also an issue for adults of course. There has been a rise in rickets in hospitals here and in the UK due to lack of vitamin D. Thats if the kids even get out of the house, what with all those pedophiles about...

the Dettol dispenser with the sensor on it? Ya wave your hands under it and it dispenses the soap so you don't have to touch the nasty germ-ridden pump.
As far as I'm concerned you could take a dump on any soap dispenser and it wouldn't matter coz once you pumped it you're gonna wash your hands.
    Idiots.
Also if you watch the ad they never show the full routine, after washing your hand you have to touch the dirty tap handle to turn the water off! How the fcuk this ideas get out of the boardrooms is astonishing.

Is anyone else fed up of this type of article?

To be fair this isn't one of the worst ones, like the type you get in the Daily Mail were you can't do anything cos it'll either A) kill you or B) make you a terrorist.

At the same time I think this puts across the wrong message, we're meant to get dirty, even bad germs are good. It's no coincidence that since this epidemic of "kills 99.9% of germs" people as a whole tend to get sicker more often.

    Any thoughts?

 Can you show me where on this thread anything like that was said?
I don't know why the women in your rant don't walk their kids to school. There are 8 million stories in the naked city and perhaps in the cars of that city. Why don't you put on a hi-viz vest, grab and clipboard and piss off those women by asking them*? Pretend you are doing a survey for the council.

*I'd imagine you might be making a good few of them late for work. :D
No, I can't because it wasn't said. I am just assuming. :D And this poxy board is driving me mad.
No, just posting based on assumptions like 87% of the posts on AH. As for stirring - the board was driving me mad with it's 503 error and double posting hence my comment.

Are you sure? I was reacting to something that was posted but I didn't quote in the interests of brevity and assuming, once again, that people might keep hold of the thread of the thread mentally.

up for anything you are making no sense, you were arguing about something that nobody said, which you admitted. Then you went back and deleted comments which I had quoted:

I used to live about 150 yards from my children's primary school. There were mornings that I was unabashedly thankful to drive them there in the car. Each and every car you see at the school holds a story. Not every car is driven by someone who can't wait to get back home to kick the maid and head off to BTs for a browse before lunching with the girls!

This is a discussion board, you are not discussing anything merely making things up and blaming the board.

Also your attempt at being snide has failed miserably.

Most of my snide attempts fail miserably but that is because, at heart, I am not a snide person.

When I was posting that one particular message I kept getting the boards 503 error message when I submitted it and the post would disappear. Assuming that it hadn't posted each time, I had to cobble it together again and by the time I got to the final bit in each one changed what I had written in the final few sentences. Then discovered when things went back to normal with my computer that I had three posts up so quickly deleted and entered the 503 excuse so I didn't take up a whole page with my made up stuff. I didn't stop to read your post until after I had deleted hence you quoting stuff which was deleted. At least, I am fairly sure that is the way it happened.

The bit of my reply which I kept changing in my post was in reply to Terry's reply (quoted under here)
If you see the attached image, you will see the small area I live in.
The roads and car parks are jammed every day by women driving their kids to school. Yes, women. These children are rarely dropped off by men.
How do I know? Because I live right beside the schools, and a morning stroll see women driving these cars. I'm not being sexist here. Just pointing out a fact. Not saying women are lazy either. Just these particular women.

Take a look at the scale on the map and tell me that these people are not lazy.
Take a drive up the R149 any morning and see how bad it is.
    to my original post.

I was just trying to point out in a roundabout way that he seems to hold a grudge against people driving their children to school and that it might not always be because they are lazy. Perhaps I should have been more straightforward and less tongue-in-cheek but I didn't stop to think that it would set off troll alarms and engender accusations. :(

    [/END SINCERITY]

That half-eaten rat that's left in the fridge................I really should put some cling-film over him or put him in the freezer for later consumption.

And I don't have a toilet seat, I use the kettle. Oh the hilarity that ensues when I forget to empty it and a housemate slaps it on to make a cuppa. :pac:

Terry! I thought I was the only one who licked puddles as a kid, wow I feel unoriginal now.
I also ate chewing gum off the road. The type that has been mashed in over the course of about 2 years, black and full of stones, it amazed me that it always retained it's mintyness....
there was also a plant I used to eat, had a juicy flavour, on our road we called them Juicies. We used to say 'let's go and eat some juicys'... I'm fairly sure dogs would have pissed on the juicys

    oh, nostalgia.........

Ah, the juicies. We used to pluck bunches of them and then bite down into the whole bale of stalks and flood our gobs with the most acrid, bitter sap that came out of them. It was lemon sucking an unripened lemon. Beetles, clay and dogpiss would be in the stalks. :D

"Avoid, where possible, touching surfaces that are handled by the general public, such as bathroom door handles."

Notice how they mention bathroom door handles because it sounds dirty and will further send the chills up the backs of the squeamish.

Well what about other surfaces that are handled by the general public like:

    bank machines
    shop doors
    escalator rails
    buttons on lifts
    the surface of the bar
    books in the library
every bannister on every damned stairs
    shopping trolleys and baskets
    petrol pumps
    the list goes on...

We'll be washing our fückin' hands a 1000 times a day.

    What a load of bollocks!
