Or British/American, so very possibly soon to be seen tactics used here too.

Crime rates do increase in a recession so it's not only zombified snap & grab junkies to worry about.

Dial 999 so not American anyway.

Come on... how could this be anything but a pisstake?

No, it's true, but i did read somewhere that 74% of people mindlessly believe any statistic they read:D

And the Yanks wonder why they are such a pack of paranoid, gun toting freaks. Email forwards are such bull****

I drove over a pram that had been left in the middle of the road (just outside the gate to Dunsink landfill). I didn't stop. It wasn't the only item left on the road.

Why do people forward these things on. Why are people so stupid. The last one that made me cry was a mini facebook thing that advised Romanians were stealing children in shops.

Some people shouldn't be let near the internet.

    This is happening now!

Sad, especially if you are inclined to 'help' people...

While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. For whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I called the Police and they were going to check it out. But, this is what the Police advised even before they went out there to check....

"There are several things to be aware of ... gangs and thieves are now plotting different ways to get a person (mostly women)to stop their vehicle and get out of the car.

"There is a gang initiation reported by the local Police where gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it...waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned baby.

"Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.

DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!!

    DIAL 999
AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.

"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSCREEN, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.

THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.

THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVOURY INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT."

Please talk to your loved ones about this. This is a new tactic used. Please be safe.

Get started NOW -- SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF EVERYTHING AROUND THEM SO AS NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.

Last time that happened to me i made the kids cry and run for a mile literally.

Maybe it was the running that made them cry but i did have a nice chat with one of there parents.

Also it was a coke bottle not eggs.

I think you definitely need to try harder at your thanks whoring :pac:

    Apologies.

Did I upset the serious nature of this thread?

    Nope that's not it.

Ah I get it - you've just got nothing better to be doing than trying to score points by criticising my posts.

Let me worry about me and you worry about you. How's that sound Evan Dando?

Yeah, and guys totally hide under your car so they can slash your achilles tendon. And if you see a car driving at night without lights you shouldn't flash your lights at them because they'll come after you and murder you. And these two teens, right, were parked in the woods and they think they hear something so they drive off and when they get home there's a hook-hand hanging off the back door of the car. And it's true because it happened to a friend of a friend of mine, and they emailed me about it.

And Principal Skinner and Ms Krabappel were in the closet making babies and one of thw babies looked at me.

It's amazing people believe the crap they get in emails, has anyone heard of the one where if you type your atm card password in backwards it's a signal to the guards you are getting robbed?

Or on boards.ie if you type your boards password with the tag <password>your password</password> it'll appear in astericks'?

(Note triangle brackets need to be square ones for it to work.)

My favourite magazine has to be 'Chat', with promises of 'Life, Death, Prizes!' under the magazine logo. They've kept their promise so far, but they can't keep it up forever. I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL YET 'CHAT'!

OP, no offence but by posting/mailing this **** on you're only adding to the confusion and fear that people shouldn't have.

Please google the next mail you get before sending it on.
Take a sentence of the mail and put into google, you should then get hits from snopes or hoax sites if it's not real.
