The books come in 2 formats ePub and Mobipocket. The Kindle can read unencrypted Mobipocket books (which these should be as they are giving them away free). You can also get software to convert ePub books to the Mobi format (Kindle's native format).

the software is called Calibre(http://calibre-ebook.com/). It's like iTunes for your eBooks. I HIGHLY recommend it. I have used it with both the Kindle 2 & 3 and the Nook and it works great.

Thanks for the post, do you know which software I should download to read the ebooks on a netbook (Epub or Mobipocket)?
