If I have a box from a mate that lived up north - will it work with a subscription to sky ireland?

yes it should, but if you subscribe to movies or sports you will have to ring sky to have your card paired with the new box,

Thanks for that. I don't see rte listed in the epg. Is this only added when the card is activated?

RTÉ will only appear if you use an active Irish subscription card.

Thanks guys. It did in the end! Took a long time (must have burned up a €30 in calls) - and i'm sorry but their Indian call centre is a joke. There are millions of Indians that speak perfect english. The ones they have on first level support are a struggle to deal with (and understand) - clearly, they are paying them peanuts!
