I hovered up a nest few weeks backs,it was in the corner of the ceiling, there was loads of baby spiders and a huge mother.

    "The robin in the garden,

    That was me,

    I'm still here, Loving you..

    Until we meet again. "

Not fond of spiders but would never kill them. Ive definitely noticed them getting bigger these past few years though.

Why are people such pussies around spiders?

What are they really so afraid of?

in fairness..its a residual primal fear we're all hardwired with...when we were hunter gatherers we needed that primal instinct to avoid getting bitten or stung by bad ass insects, snakes and spiders....some of us still have that fear....for example if you took a spider thats 6 inches across and then took a big moth that was 6 inches long...bet ya no one would freak out with the idea of holding the moth?...reason being they never posed a danger to us.
We all know its totally irrational; the fear of spiders but its there all the same.

TBH...I think over the last 5 years our summers have been warmer and wetter...hence there being more food for these spiders to prey on..so that they end up getting bigger.

my sister told me that houses over 40 years old have spiders the size of ur 2 hands put together so wen u hear scurrying in ur attic , dont blame it on bats, rats or mice it could be THE GIANT SPIDER :0..... Im hoping she was just trying to frighten me as she knows i hate them :(

Was in the kitchen the other night when I heard the very strong buzzing type noise it was a crane fly (or is it daddy long legs) trapped in a web above the mirror it was frantically trying to get away the wings were going a mile a minute I could see the spiders legs peeping out from the edge of the mirror:(

It was sickening to look at the poor little fcuker of a fly knew what was in store for him, The next morning it was half eaten the upper part of the body lifeless
I go the vacuum out after that and blitzed all the spiders in the house

Spiders never bothered me before this but I will swat, squash, squelch , destroy all spiders in my home now I never want to witness that again :(

How do they get so Big?
I found one or two in my room so far, fangs as big as their legs,
there's no insects in my room so I dunno how they're growing.

fangs as big as their legs......no insects around.......its pretty obvious that its drinking your blood as you sleep...when it gets big enough it`ll finish the job

When I was in my parents house I used to be amazed about how they got into the place. I used to have my old room sealed tight and they still got in!

I had an encounter with a spider once.

Story goes that I had stored my beer glasses in the cupboard and when i took a beer can from the fridge, i took said glass from the cupboard and promptly emptied the contents into the beer glass.

On drinking from the glass I felt a tinge in my mouth which turned out to be weblike and hard like(the bleein spider) so I spat out the contents into the sink straight away. It curdled my stomach thinking wtf just happened but I didnt give up and kept drinking for the evening.]

Moral of the story? Always check your glass before drinking its contents, and I speak that a spider supporter!

    Best way dealing with spiders:
Kill one of them on the wall (preferably one of the big bast*rds) and leave its carcass. The other spiders will be gone by morning. No lie. Try it.

They're not daddy long-legs's though, are they? I thought Daddy-longlegs were craneflies, ie they have wings! Flying spiders, thats all we need!

Daddy longlegs arent spiders..theyre flies...Craneflys I like 'em to be honest cos they just do what i said earlier "diddle" around the place like theyre pissed and are insects that havent a clue what theyre meant to be doin. Ah they do really but they actually barely eat at all, just shag and die.

You're just a meanie if you kill those lads.

Dont kill them, just hold one of their legs. They have a defence mechanism whereby they can amputate one of their own legs, any of them! Try it!

So those aren't daddy-longlegs's in that vid, they are actual spiders!

I'm no fan of spiders but I've yet to meet one thats been able to hit me back after I punched it square in its... entire body.
Now if the sizes (of humans in relation to spiders) were reversed I'd be ****ting myself.

I am proud to say I don't have a fear of spiders, I used to work in a pet shop that had tarantulas and I used to have to lift them out of their cages to clean it. It was like holding a ball of fuzz because they were so furry very cool. :D

Although I'm not afraid of spiders I do hate it when there in places like the shower or the bedroom it's annoying having to take them out.

My house is like the film arachnophobia. They seem to be everywhere. There was a really big thick one last week, I had to get a big book and drop it on him. No way was I going to let him live!

Also got a bit of spider web to the face there the other day walking out the door. Where were all these spiders when there were all the flies buzzing about during the summer!
