    So are the mods OTT?

    It's just a question.

I tried to post a question about a certain sport, which shall remain un-nameless though, because I've been told (by a mod) that fans of that certain sport can't keep it civil, so it would be preferred if I didn't ask the question.

So back in the day, when we were lead to believe that the internet was a place where you could ask ANY question and get ANY answer....why is there so much 'moderation' when I just wanted to ask a simple question about a simple sport?

I might get banned for this ....:(

This is a privately run website, they can impose whatever restrictions they see fit.

If you want total free speech what you will find is kiddie porn. There has to be a level of moderation.

OP, we are here to protect you from yourself.

You posted a soccer question in AH. Why not use the soccer forum?

You posted a "are AH mods OTT" in AH's. Why not use feedback?

It is not us OP, it's you.
