Can you hook up a regular pc monitor to Macbooks?

Hi,

Just looking ot know can you plug in ordinary pc monitors to Apple laptops?

Someone told me you can't that it has to be apple monitors only, is this true?

You will need one of the DVI to VGA display adapters listed on this page, depending on which port is on your MacBook.

whoever told you that needs to go back to school.

you can hook up macbooks to any monitor as long as you get the right connecter.

you need to find out if your macbook has micro or mini DVI port (it will have one or the other) and find out what connection your monitor has, this is either VGA or DVI.

in any case you'll need one of the four connections here:

The only monitors that had problems working with Macs were the early TFT screens - that was over 10 years ago. The Someone who told you must be stuck in the 20th Century.

In fact a Mac usually has less hassle autodetecting monitors and projectors than a PC. Just auto-switches when you plug in.

What is the display port on a white Macbook 2.13GHz A1181 core 2 duo?

Is it perhaps the "Mini DVI".
In which case I'm stuffed because my monitor has a VGA 15 pin, 3 row plug.

So you buy a Mini DVI to VGA adaptor......On the Apple website.
