If I've understood correctly, we won't be able to use the internet till we're registered (which for me is Friday )

So where's the closest place (I'm thinking internet cafe here) where I can get online. Cheaply :P

I think we have to. It says 'all residents' have to attend on the email thing we got, so I don't think we're getting away with it!

Megasadface. It's a bit ridiculous to be honest. I get how it's the College's network, and how we can't have usernames and passwords until then, but there ought to be a guest system. We're paying for internet service on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday even though we can't use it.

    Not cool. Seriously, not cool.

Think I might look into investing in one of those usb internet thingys... effort though. Ick. And I'm sure connecting to the network is going to pose problems for me... why must technology hate me so? :(

Seriously, don't bother with one of them USB things. I tried that trick last year. I soon learned you're lucky to get phone reception in certain parts, never mind mobile broadband.

Guys, can you all do us a favour in halls and make sure you have an antivirus installed and up to date when you bring your laptops up here? it'd make my life so much easier. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭bythewoods

Lads, can you do Groinshot a favour?

If you're a hot girl, will you please refrain from installing antivirus software on your laptops. This will increase the amount of time it'll take for him to set up your laptop on the college network.

Also, please, if you need assistance in setting up your internet... or if you have any technical problems throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact the Halls JCR tech-guy.

He's defo more than willing to do bedroom calls, at any time. In fact, just get his mobile number over Freshers' weekend, make life nice and convenient for when you need him in your bedroom.

(I gotz your back bbz xxxxx)

... and if you're really lucky, he might even show you his rowing shorts.

    They're made of lycra.
