If I had my way I'd make every one of them earn their dole payment by doing a 20-30 hour week, even my old fella says it should be this way.
In case you didn't know, THERE IS NO WORK!!

And instead of directing your fury at people on the dole, how about directing towards the people who actually deserve it? I'm on the dole, recently graduated, but I'm doing voluntary work and planning on leaving here in a few months.
But I digress, I don't need to apologise to anyone.

And fair play to you..I must make it clear I'm not having a go at anyone who's lost their job during the recession or graduated to find there's no job.
It's those that have been on it their whole life or 10+years and are quite content to do a few nixers and not pay their fair share.
I could be quite easily on the dole myself as I've seen thousands of people being let go from my company, a lot of friends and they're out looking for jobs every day. I was one of the lucky few who kept theirs and I'm grateful for that especially seeing the hardships that people are suffering through now.
It's those people that expect everyone else to pay their way through their whole lives who I've nothing but contempt for.

And there is work out there if you look hard enough...I recommended a few of my friends to take a step down to get a tech support job (call center support) at a local company which barely paid above the minimum wage but as I said to them "if you take this job when you go looking for a better one that employer will see that you got off your ass and worked and will more likely give you a job over someone who didn't bother".
And I was proved right...all of them have moved on to better jobs within the IT sector role.

So sick of giving out about people on the dole in the present day After Hours has taken to giving out about people on the dole in the past?

That'll get a lot done so it will.

Perhaps we could invent some device that will send our outraged posts back in time to mock these poor fools?

Come on people we're supposed to be discussing the real issues of the day here - Brian Cowen's bed time, the vague uncomfortable feeling a middle class person gets when asked the time by someone wearing a tracksuit, what flavour crisps are the most Irish - that sort of thing

So we had 150,000 foreigners flying into Ireland each month to sign on and pick up a few swans...

Does the 150k include those on FAS courses at the time?

What about those with dodgy backs and on long term disability?

You can't beat a good old bandwagon or two to jump on.

Its a perfectly valid question. Since we had near full employment during the boom i'd like to know why these people weren't working?

Because some people are lazy and choose not to work.

You're that same guy who set up the thread about posh girls running away with skangers.
You also needlessly said that you were from an affluent area.

These 2 things brought into consideration, I'm guessing it'll be a shock if I told you we are in a recession. :pac:
