Anybody any suggestions. The Altea is just under €20K and has good spec.

So long as the Altea isn't the base 85 brake petrol it could be ok. The 1.4 TSI isn't a whole lot more, might even be possible if you bought an ex demo car.

All references to the Altea except for the XL Van have been deleted from the www.seat.ie website even though it's still listed on the price list, but then again, the Alhambra is still on the price list too, they're hardly still selling that, are they?

Renault Fluence has 530 litres, Skoda Octavia has 560 litres.

Seat website is useless tbh. They've just facelifted them so that might be part of the reason.

Renault Fluence is 530ltrs and one of the best cars I've been in all year. If you can stretch to the Tom Tom edition go for it. Great car.

I read these cars are being made in Turkey and not being sold in the UK. I wonder how good they will be after a few years.

    True:D

...but I seriously doubt there'd be a marked difference between the quality of the cars. Most failures these days are components as opposed to build

I had the Fluence for a week, I could find nothing wrong, no rattles or noises. Build quality is great, I'd buy one.

Saloons just don't sell in the UK, they prefer hatches over there. Other C segment saloons that aren't sold there include the Toyota Corolla, the Opel/Vauxhall Astra, Mitsubishi Lancer, Nissan Tiida, Suzuki SX4 (maybe more of a b segment car), and possibly more. I'm not sure if the VW Jetta is even sold there, certainly not in any numbers and the Honda Civic saloon is only sold in hybrid form.
