I find Brian situation a bit strange - if I knew I has to get up early and had to do the speech - I wouldnt be singing, drinking etc until 4am!! What is going on!!

all our great people have always enjoyed a few drinks,

eg Brendan Behan, James Joyce, CJ Haughey, DeV, ArchBishop McQuaid, Michael Collins, Padraig Pearse, James Connolly, Willie John McBride, Gerry Ryan, Des Bishop, Bono & The Edge, Ray D'arcy, Patk Kavanagh, Countess Markevitch, Richie Ryan, Sinead O'Connor, Gabriel Byrne to name but a few.

it's what makes us such a wonderful race, such great craic, and such a great little country!

take this away and we are truly fuuucked!

Return Cowen of course, the man is an intellectual powerhouse and can perform mimicry like a village idiot until 4 in the morning. Unfortunately it plays up with his sinuses though

    He basically doesn't care.

The country is on its knees.

He is on 300 grand a year and is having a great ol time. He sees no problem.

Sure why wouldn't he be singing til 4am.

That's what has people most upset I think. I nearly crashed the car this morning with anger listening to it, there I was (with everyone else) battling through traffic to get to my job for 9. Then we get to listen to Cowen who was miffed because he hadn't had his breakfast yet, sounding hugely hungover on a Tuesday morning. It sounded like he was taking the piss out of all of us.

Does it really matter if the best of FF were on a two day beano with biffo and he sounded a bit hoarse and tired. The country has been on a bigger one with the fool for a lot longer and we haven't even tried to sound hoarse

Enda's biggest weakness is lack of ability to communicate, and he always bombs on his media performances. Nothing like the charisma, substance and attention to detail we heard from Mr Cowen this morning.

It says alot about this county when we make a massive deal about this non-issue and ignore the massive problems that are so common.

You'd swear he was Taoiseach or something. Why can't we leave him to go around the county's pubs, with his Garda driver and 300k+ salary, singing and drinking in peace.

So this is still going on. What i find newsworthy is the comment he made in 2006 that was shown on Freefall last night and his spin in the actual interview this morning.
Whatever about Brian Cowen being hungover. His media handlers definitely must have been and still sleeping it off at the time of the interview.

His hangover will be gone soon but the annoyance of the people over this will not go away.
2 painkillers and a glass of water will not fix this.

And that's already bolted, charging through various international news agencies throughout the day. So doesn't really matter what we think here - perception's already established.

Mark you're questioning everyone, but not taking any heed of answers to your questions.

He went to bed between 3 and 4 am - after a skin full in the bar of the Ardilaun Hotel. He was singing songs, and doing impressions of Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. He was drinking all evening. That comes from people who were in the bar with him and spoke on Today FM tonight. It didn't come from him, because he lies and his cronies shout at reporters when they ask personal questions.

He shouldn't be waking up after a few hours sleep, go on the radio sounding rubbish, and then lie about having a hangover.

If he had said "I had a late night, and I'm fairly tired" that would have stopped the storm in a tea cup. But he didn't he just spoke down to us like kids, like he always does.

Actually, no one answered my question (until your post, where you accused me of ignoring answers). I wasn't listening to Today FM tonight but I'll believe what you said... that people have rang in to confirm he had a few drinks. Oh no.

But the point of my question was to point out the fact that the interview alone is barely 'evidence' of him being hungover/drunk/unprepared. I'm confident that the vast majority of the people who are claiming Cowen is a 'disgrace' for the interview wouldn't have batted an eyelid if they had heard it live, before all of this "he sounded hungover!" crap.
