Brian and his buddies are at a Fianna Fail drink in at the ardilaun hotel in Galway

    Yeah, he sounded pretty rough.

The interview is getting severe criticism on Pat Kenny's show.

Had to tell. He always had some head on him.

Christ above who gives a flying fu@k? This is the sort of non-news that Joe Duffy makes a living from. The high horse brigade are already going into overdrive on Ray Darcy.

A few pints, a bit hungover so what? Its not like he has the power to nuke the planet or anything or is going to be making any earth shattering decisions right at this moment. He is entitled to blow off a little steam and get plastered if he wants to.

And can I point out I detest the sight of him, Bertie and all FF'ers.

Hnads up everyone here who's never gone into work hungover..? I know it's not essentially the same but you know what I mean!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

He should of called off that interview knowing he'd have a hangover. Simple as that.

Very true but thank god I don't have to take care of 4/5 million people the next day. :o

As Gurramok right says, he should have called it off, at least he should have sent another minister instead for "medical" reasons or something.

Still, it just shows he's human.
Well until that crackpot book comes out soon possibly saying different! LOL

Jasus can you imagine the farts outta him? :( I'd say he lets those silent-but-deadly ones that are basically just passing air around sh!t

(which is coincidentally the kind of image that comes to mind when I hear "Fianna Fáil think - in")

I've gone to work with a hangover, but I haven't destroyed the county's economic future.
If I had, I'd feel a little guilty.

Ah, but he wasn't hungover when that came about! (Besides it was more McCreevey's watch IMO)

Ah, will ya come off it. He sounded very rough. He even mixed up the Good Friday and Croke Park agreement. I pay the guys ridiculously high wages and paid for those pints he had last night. I'm entitled to get pissed off when he turns up for work and not able to string a sentence together.

While he is far from blameless if you rememeber correctly McCreevey warned the spending was out of controll, introduced some cutbacks in the 2003 / 2004 budget and got shafted to Europe as a result. Ould Brian took over and the spending spree started again.

Not saying Brian is blameless, but my understanding was that it was already well in progress whrn Cowen took over. Don't remember Chalrie making any cutbacks (not saying it didn't happen - just doesn't seem to be his style...)

Well they are on day two of the drink-in, sorry... think-in over in Galway so the cure is probably on hand for the next round - of talking of course. :pac:

Class, you really couldn't make this stuff up.

Our lot with every day that passes, looks to me like an Irish branch of the Keystone cops!

Ursula Halligan TV3 asked him out straight if he was drunk/hungover this morning. He denied it, saying it was a ridiculous thing to say.

Drink? Nah I'd say he overdosed on the Hang Sangwiches alright though....

The fact that they have stopped putting any effort into PR is a bit of a 'sign', dont you think? The government knows that the game is up; you can only get the feeling that this mornings interview reflects a sense of resignation within the FF camp... there is nothing of any significance that can be done now, we are just playing a waiting game, and so are the government.

brian cowen went to a friends kids christening in tullamore and they ended up having a lock-in in the family pub. at about 6 the next morning after a serious session BC remembered he's told his driver to go home. he literally went outside and flagged down the first car passing. he told the fella he needed a lift, yer man rang work and said he was droppin BC up to leinster house and would be abit late in. the man himself was on RTE doin an interview at 12 noon - pretty coherently i'm told.

just a little anecdote. i heard this second hand but from a very reliable source, it's the kind of thing i can imagine to be true considering his rep. i've drank with the man - some dude to lower the guinness

It's gas the abuse Cohen gets for his drinking when Bertie was just as bad, a man of the people he was!
