sky box acting up

been having problems with my ( 2nd ) new sky + box off late and the funny thing is , its a replacement for one i only had installed in july , baschically , whenever i turn it on for the 1st time on a particular day , its like its loading up for the very 1st time , a message comes on screen ( once you press the on button ) with the sky emblem and you are asked to wait while it loads , this takes at least 30 seconds and then the screen changes and another message comes up asking you to press back up , having done that the screen goes to the sky intro page

as i said , this is the second box , they sent out a guy only a week ago and he simply replaced the old one , another problem with both this box and the 1st one is the on screen tv listing when you press the blue button , its often inaccurate , for instance , i turned on the tv last night at 7 pm and it stated that premiership live was presently on and that the X factor was also presently on , in actual fact neither show had even begun at 7 pm , i wouldnt mind if it was a case of one in a thousand boxes being faulty but this is the second one in the space of two months which have exhibited the exact same flaws

i had a pace sky ( non + or hd ) box for nine years which never gave a seconds trouble, theese are both amstrad , the sky guy who came out last week told me pace were troublesome but that amstral never give trouble , go figure

Do a forced software update-IMPORTANT-PUT THE BOX IN STANDBY 1st(in case you damage hard drive by sudden loss of power)
Hold down back-up button on the box and plug out from mains, plug in again and then release back-up.It should give a message on screen not to plug box out or disconnect from satellite, this is the update installing.Should fix any problem your having.

zerks has given you good advice. One thing though, don't release the back-up button until you see an "updating" message on screen or something to that effect.
