Right I'v got an email form Hall for arrival times for each county and one thing struck me... are there any Dubs staying there?

Not too likely, there were one or two from like "Dublin County" or who applied from their grandparents addresses in Roscommon and the likes. Mostly culchies and internationals though.

Nah. Coming up to exams it gets turned into a study area, but during the year it's only used for, Iunno, JCR events and shizz.

Oh really? Well I guess I can't account for that. Apologies. But I'm pretty sure it's accurate for what it does show.

I reccommend The Golden Phoenix up the road! Or, if you're a bit more flush with funds than I was, the other chinese further up Rathmines Rd is excellent. There's a Burdock's nearby too..

Very few I imagine, not too many parents are going to shell out 5 grand if their son/daughter lives close enough to the college to stay at home.

Yes! Two of my friends from school in Dublin are living in halls for various reasons. They used addresses of country homes. :P

By the by, do you think I'll get away with going to the halls night out on Friday even though I don't live there? A friend who's staying there asked me to go with her (as a bit of a wingman :P) They won't check key cards or anything?

Officialy you're supposed to get signed in. In practice you can probably get away with it by just not drawing attention to yourself.

    Yeah... no.

They're really strict in the 1st week, there's a rule that you're not allowed have any overnight guests for the first few days.

During the year, you'll usually be able to just walk on in with your friends without being checked, unless it's a busy night out or something, then expect to find the security men checking key cards at the gate. But they can sign you in overnight anyway. Just not during the first bit. Yeah.

Robbing a keycard from someone you know when you're in there and them getting a new one made will see you through the first few days.

Or people could hop the wall, change tshirts and hide in the mop closet for a while*

    *all completely unnecessary.

That doesn't sound like something I'd make my guests do anyway, that's for sure.

What about hanging out in other peoples' halls apartments during the week? Like on the Monday of Freshers' week before going out. That allowed?

Yeah. They'll only have people on the gates late enough, after nights out or whathaveyou.

Yeah as far as I know you're allowed in other apartments till 11pm, after which, you become an over night student. But I couldn't see them being too strict if you're just over with you mates, and not being noisy....you'd have to give them REASON to come check on you.
