It says 50+ on ticketmaster for Michael Bubbles.

Your mate is obviously a greedy C^nt and this has nothing to do with mainstream prices.

Don't blame Michael for this!!! F8cking touts. (As in, I agree with the above)

Pfft, Michael Buble! I'm going to download his discography tonight and then delete it all. That'll show 'em!

No she said its face value. Theyre up the front though so just lookin there myself on ticketmaster it says €166.50 is the top price...so the 50 squids one must be miles down the back. Not sure wheres shes gettin €185 then..but still pricey!

Like a previous poster said people are voting with their feet.

Oxygen was far from sold out, both camping and one day passes, and is known for being a blatant rip off.

Concert organizers have been getting away with ripping people off at large scale events for years. The point upgrade I say still has to be paid for afaik.

Next year I'd say there'll be a decrease in the price of major festivals and concerts. Nonetheless the big single acts like U2, Springsteen, McCarthy etc will still sell out no matter what price they charge.

Its a bloody insult for your money, only have to read in the oxygen forums amount of scumbags it seems to attract every year and f'ck all security around, then you get some Z list celeb in the paper appearing and smileing at the festival, you dont see them up to eyes in filth..

Just point blank refuse to pay it, I've stopped going to festivals and concerts in this country for the last few years because of this. They can't rip you off if you aren't there!

Anyone else think the price of tickets is astronomical for concerts/festivals lately. I cant afford to go to any of them this year. Just seen a friends Facebook status looking to sell 2 Michael Bublé tickets for €185 each. I read it first of all as the 2 for €185...but nope...€370 for the 2 :eek: This is Michael Bublé FFS...he'd want to be in my sitting room giving me a lap dance aswell for that money.

Electric Picnic was also crazy moolah aswell..€240 with no option of a one day pass.

I think €70 at the MAX is reasonabe to pay to see anyone in concert. Opinions? Or am i just bein a stingy fecker?
So you think 70 lids to see 1 gig lasting a couple of hours is ok but 240 for a 2 day, 3 night festival including camping is crazy? Can't see your logic there I'm afraid.

Much rather go see up and coming acts on the cheap, don't think I'd pay to see any of the big acts now.
They generally are just a let down anyway.

After my colleague paying €110 to see Whitney Heuston earlier this year and leaving early because basically it was a sh*t concert (and I read all the angry reviews afterwards), this has completely put me off wasting my hard-earned money on going to these concerts!

    Megadeth for €35

    Definatly worth it.

Then there is Shrinebuilder for €18 in November. Not bad considering the background the lads in the band have. I've also seen Glyder a couple of times for €10. Like has be said before, you really have to catch them before greedy promotors realise that they can make a quick buck off them

Damn right, they played all of Rust in Peace, was a class show in general
Yup, that's the way it's heading. Glyder are really good too

A large percentage of people illegally download music these days so I guess the artists need to push up the price! Agreed though, some of the prices for gigs are ridiculous, esp the oldtimers with a good catalouge of albums!

paid €20 to see the Coronas during rag week last year. good enough gig as well. paid €60 for u2 last summer and that was a terrific show. worth it imo
I'm off to a 3 day festival in Sligo in a few minutes... the car's packed with booze & a tent and the tickets were €60 for the whole weekend.

And the good news... the sun is beating down - happy days!!
enjoy temple house :) don't get too many STDs :P

€103 for a 4 day pass to EXIT festival in serbia. Far better value than oxygen or electric picnic and i got a mini holiday out of it as well :)

nah nah you were right with that
what I meant was there's really not much justifying a ticket being more than €60 for one concert.

I have to say the academy have been excellent for gig prices recently, approx €30 to see Sepultura there during the summer, also had Soulfly, Fear Factory, couple of others all around the same mark. Volbeat will be playing there for a mere €13.50 in November  awesome band too!
If prices were too dear for a gig here, I wouldn't think twice about travelling to the uk. Prices won't come down if people keep paying them.

What do you expect, with all the piracy? In the past bands toured to promote an album; now they release an album to promote a tour.

I agree but as other people have said, people still buy them. I admit to being one of those people too.

Sure I paid €72 for a Meat Loaf ticket this morning.

My parents paid €112 for me to see Elton John for my birthday. I wouldn't have been getting it if it wasn't my 21st!

I'd never pay the money for Oxegen and Electric Picnic and stuff.

Time to stop lying about your age there mars ;)

    Porcupine Tree €27.50 in October.
Seems poor taste in music = dearer gigs, suits me :D

    Recession Joe, shockin' stuff altogether...

The prices will only change if people stop paying which will never happen unfortuantely. :o

Why don't you take a seat and tell me all about it?
Lets play a game of spot the homosexual.

according to the lad from MCD on the radio the other day, they make very similar profits in Ireland north/south of the border.. even though ticket prices are far cheaper up north.. he puts the price soar in the last couple of years down to the massive insurance premiums down here..

€79 for 3 day tickets, though the early bird ones were €60. Great little festival too - nice set-up. I was there last night & saw Peter Hook dj-ing... he was excellent.

Back home at the minute to get some food & have a shower, which is kinda cheating on the festival spirit, but I only live around the corner!
