Ah no mrslow - I'm really sorry :( I can only imagine how frustrated you are by all this. Fingers crossed for you.

    Look after yourself.

Rubbish, sorry to hear it's flaring up again but hopefully it will get sorted quickly.

+1 on the torturous physio session with Mark, I was whimpering like a baby during the session last week and another one to "look forward" to tomorrow! It will all be worth it though :)

Yeah, fun times:D Hoping the short rest and Voltarol will have reduced the inflammation enough to tear up the park in the morning;)

Thanks Ruby, I was emotional on Wednesday night (unlike me) because I felt I had gone through an hour of pain to solve it and I was back to square one.

    Tomorrow will tell.

Bummer to hear that Mr slow but stick with the exercises and foam roller and the physio and it will come right. These are the moments that are sent to test us all. Hope that tomorrow goes well.

Thanks, I've had enough of being tested - I should have passed with honours by now.;)

I hope this is going to a nice and slow tearing up of the Park!! It's crap when you get keep getting knocks, but in your case I'd definitely be inclined to give it a go tomorrow...

Thanks Xebec, I'll be ripping it apart in slow motion ;) My plan is to follow the route for the half, taking the loops at Castleknock and the Zoo out of it and add on whatever mileage at the end. (Min 15 max 20)

    How does that grab ya?

Sounds good. My plan at the moment is to meet you guys somewhere between Kilmarroon and the Castleknock roundabout - I'll have 4 miles done at that stage so not guaranteed to make it to the gate for 9 - then follow the half course with you guys before picking a point to give me 20 miles arriving back home...

    Seeya in the morning :)

We'll be on Chesterfield ave for a good bit, most likely spot to catch you up, will run on left side with back to Castleknock just to make it easier, I don't expect a big turnout tomorrow. Watch out for one blue knee ;)

Only one blue knee this week?! I was going to look for two!! Should hopefully pick you guys up on Ordnance Survey Road, depends on how early I get out of bed :pac: But as usual, if you don't spot me or I'm late just keep going...

LSR Done! 17.55 miles, no real pain :D I'm a bit disappointed with having to take a couple of short walk breaks after 15.5 - but C'est la vie. Couldn't have run another step if I was on fire, my one pair of 1,000 mile socks were dirty so I paid the price for wearing a cheapy pair and after 14 miles was feeling every step on my feet and just to add to the excuses my 3 year old had me in and out to his room to 'find' the teddy he was firmly clutching.

Muchos Gratias to Rainbow Kirby, she kept me distracted for about a mile and a half. Could have also done with my wingbud and her tow rope to drag my ass on to 18.;)

Roll on the half next week.

The 3 of us felt so bad leaving you like that. When I looked back and saw you running again we were delighted for you. Sorry that you didn't make it to 18.

Thanks jcsmum, I'll get there next time.

I also wasn't wearing my regular lsr top and paid for it in the shower when I got home.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:Chafed nipples are not pleasant!

Good to hear that the majority of today went well and that the pain was mainly absent. As for the chafing and the socks, you'll remember the pain the next time to avoid these things happening again so it was all beneficial for a lsr and for next week.

So checked out where I'm up to, 17.55 miles has me on Dartry Rd. Despite Rainbow Kirby assuring me on Saturday that the training would be enough to get me over the line, I'm having doubts - not that I won't finish but wondering what state I'll be in when I do. My LSR on Saturday ended with me making sounds not unlike a badly dubbed German blue movie ;)

You'll be grand - after the 20 in a couple of weeks it's taper all the way. You won't know yourself after a couple of low mileage weeks.

Thanks Ray, I suppose it's so close now doubts are bound to be abundant.

Delighted for you that you did the LSR injury free (well apart from the chaffing!). Hopefully, your injury woes are well and truely behind you!

Best of luck on Saturday, you'll fly it!

Thanks Ruby, It's a real pity you're so far away and will miss the half. I look forward to meeting you on DCM Day, hopefully we'll all manage a photo before and after - definately one to keep.

Went out for a run last night, Kinda enjoyed it - My knees took a while to get comfortable and I maintained an 8:45 min mile. I felt tired before I ran and was wrecked this morning. I'm going to postpone my 9 miler until Wednesday night and rest up then for the half. A nights sleep wouldn't hurt either:rolleyes:

What started as a very comfortable run pacing at 8:21 for the first four miles became a bit of a nightmare, my IT Band was fine but the top of my calf just below the knee to the outside became very stiff, every second footfall with my left was painfull in a dull way from my knee to my toes. I ran through it and after a mile or so it seemed to have settled down but my leg wasn't moving well - it was a bit floppy from the ankle and ineffective.
Completed 9 miles in 79:21 and am quite sore today. I'll go and see the physio after the half, as it's not my target race it won't matter if it goes pear shaped. Roll on Saturday.

it sounds (to my untrained ear, take with a barrel of salt) like a muscle cramp more than anything else. Could have disappeared completely tomorrow.

Thanks Ray, don't think it's anything serious - it just affected the way I ran and caused a few other niggles. I'll break out the deep heat later.

I arrived in good time, time enough for a pit stop and a quick salute at Rainbow Kirby. Met Raycun only to lose him in the pit. Was supposed to be pacing JEmily and had given up any hope of meeting her as we moved forward towards the start line when low and behold I hear her shouting at a spectator, so loud I might add that I found her in 8,000 people!

The race started slowly with people bunching up but by the time we got to the zoo the pace was a solid 8:23 I felt very comfortable up to mile 7 even chatting with JEmily and her friends until I hit the Kyber, their hill training in the bowels of Kildare paid dividends as we raced up at an 8:08 pace and by the time we reached the top my knee and ankle made themselves known and I dropped back to a 9 min pace to try and get my heart rate back under control. By about mile 10 I was feeling fine and cruised along at 8:30. A woman came up beside me to enquire about my chosen charity and promised to log on and donate when she got home, out the far side of the Furry Glen I was feeling tired and my hamstrings were sore, a surprise appearance on Ordnance Rd by my family gave me a huge boost and when I rounded the corner to face the finish line I picked the pace up to 6:12 to charge valiantly over the line in 1:53:20.

How am I gonna run 26.2 in a months time???

More slowly! You ran most of yesterday around 8.30, and only ran at 9 when you wanted to take a break. Next month you'll be running at 9 all the way. Plus, the magic of taper!

Sorry I lost you - I went back to talk to the sub-2 crowd, and got diverted when I bumped into a friend on the way back. I thought we'd meet up again beside one or other sets of balloons...

Great time mrslow. Hope the legs are having a rest today.

You'll be fine for the big day as you know that you'll be doing a longer distance so you will run for that distance.
