This is an idea I have had for a wee while.

Everyone knows how important a good promo is, you can make a career out of the ability to speak onn the mic. The ability to convey your character and hold the crowd in the palm of the hand is an absolute essential skill in the wrestling world. Anyone who has ever done public speaking will know how difficult this is..:pac:

So basically everyone can post their favorites from down the years, and maybe I can split them up into categories like Walter did with the greatest matches ever thread.:o

So rules?

1...No poster can post more than 3 videos, unless after a while, we are struggling to hit the number..
2... It must be over 3 minutes long...
3 Youtube or Dailymotion videos would be nice and are probably essential sadly..

I'l throw up some nominations tomorrow...:P

Loving this Rjd2, I'll get the ball rolling....

My favourite ever promo has to be Shawn Michaels in Montreal, one week before his match with Hulk Hogan at Summerslam 2005.

So many memorable quotes, he owned Montreal, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan. He combined scripted text with improvisation, and the promo just told a brilliant story.

It was 15 minutes of pure genius from start to finish.

Just a masterclass in heel promos, the crowd totally wanted to cheer for the Rock but he just kept coming out with killer lines to make them boo the **** out of him. Just class.

Cannot find the video for either, but my 2 favourite I have ever seen are Roddy Piper on Vince McMahon on Smackdown in 2003 where he totally dismantled all of Vinces achievements.

The other is Flairs return to WCW. Think it was 1999. It was a greta promo, started nice and calm, and by the end it was golden Crazy Ric Flair. "You can't fire me, I'm already fired".

Rick Rude did an awesome promo as well on his WCW debut.

Okay just to be clear, does it have to be an actual promo of talking in the ring and building the character etc or can it also be a video promo for a specific match? (HBK vs Taker for example)

I know its not 3 minutes long but this has to be one of the most important promos in wwe history. The birth of Austin 3:16 and the attitude era.

couldn't agree with this more, love loads of rockys stuff but this is by far my favorite of all time.

I think when Flair came out that time was actually the biggest, most sustained crowd reaction in wrestling history.

quite possibly The Rock's greatest segment; and that's saying an awful lot. this is the time he ends Vince's Kiss My Ass Club. him and Vince were absolutely flawless.

Always loved this one. I know it was a botched angle, the whole invasion thing, but at the time leading up to it the tensions between these two were unbelievable and i remember sitting there watching this thinking "Holy $hit! Is this for real!?!" Only these two could pull this off during such a heated time. Great entertainment, comedy and drama.

There was about 6 mins of pure intensity before this part but i cant find one that will upload here.

Quite simply the greatest promo of the television era or any other from easily the greatest wrestler since Jim Londos. Not even MVP talking and dressing like an idiot could spoil the masterpiece that was delivered before he appeared.

Having watched that promo again, I had actually forgotten actually how good it was. I will say it is the best in ring promo I have ever seen.
