Putting change on counter instead of in my hand

When I pay for goods in the shop I hand my cash over to the counter to the staff member, but when it comes to getting my change they put it on the counter even though my hand is out clearly expecting them to hand it back to me!!!...

does anyone else feel the same about this? :o

When getting change back at a shop, I like to proffer up my naked arse & get them to insert the coins, as if I were a slot machine.

I hate people who do that. It's really annoying. Especially if there's loads of coins and they just throw them down scattering them - takes ages to pick them up.

Hold out both hands next time , in a begging bowl shape - it should help get the message through .

Actually I sometimes hold out my wallet open - so there can be no confusion

Sometimes I tell the shop assistant that I'm a jukebox & will sing any song they choose once they put the money in.

I bought the paper today and handed over 2euro coin (into the cashiers hand) as I waited there with my hand out, he puts it on the counter!

Twat, won't be going there again...

Actually, when buying an icecream cone, the shop assistant hands you the cone and then tells you the price...so you can try to open purse onehanded and take out correct money.

Whats wrong with having those stands for the cones so your hands are free?

I would always give change into the hand, apart from in two circumstances, they are far from being a "germ freak".

    1. Boob money. A certain segment of society think its acceptable that when you tell them the price...put their hand into their bra, rummage around a bit, then hand you sweaty money.
    2. Sock Money. Same as above, but they take off their shoe, peal down their sock and reveal more smelly money.

Both of which will get money put on the counter.

I'm living in germany now and those little ice cream holders are EVERYWHERE!! It's not like they're expensive or anything, why don't we have them in Ireland??

If they were germ freaks they would not be doing the job of handling money in the first place. They are likely to be touching far more germs when taking the money than when giving it back, it is not like you have to rub your hands all over somebody elses when handing back money.

You should stick your hands down your jocks and pretend to be getting the change from there.

Because we can't get any EU grants to fund them.

Don't know why those cashiers who drop the change on the counter can't just drop it in your hand if they're so eager not to touch you:confused: Annoying:mad: Also there's likely to be far more germs on the coins than on the persons hand.

I remember when I was in Latvia the custom was to place the change in a little dish beside or on top of the till for you to then pick up.

Got a lot of funny looks from cashiers standing with my hand out.

I don't understand the obsession with this, I can't remember this ever happening to me in a shop, the change is always given into my hand.

Now I think about it. I can't remember the last time that happened to me. What does annoy me, though, is when they put the notes on my hand, then the coins on top of the notes. The next instant I move my hand, the coins go flying. So I've developed this trick of taking the notes to the side with my fingers, so the coins go in my palm.

    Yes, I know ... :o

Notes go in the hand first

    Followed by coins

you are forgetting the vital step of closing your hand before you move it....

so close your hand and the coins are wrapped in a little note blanket parcel and then straight into the pocket!

So I close my hand around all the cash, coins and notes together - what then? I need coins and cash to be separate, because that's how they go in my wallet: separately. (I have thought about this, you know ... )

Remember the good old days when they used to even put your shopping into the plastic bags, they're gone forever now!

Tbh I find the most offensive thing is when you're working at a cash register and someone is trying to answer their phone and pay at the same time, resulting in the money they're about to hand over going into their mouth for safe keeping, then being handed to the person behind the register. Then usually the customer just doesn't get it when you don't want to touch the money. Christ. It's just been in their mouth!
