Anyone see the movie and looking forward to this? Just thought I'd remind peeps in case they weren't aware it was on. The film was gritty (one particular scene was verrry hard to watch) but very good none the less.

Hope Milky managed to survive. Stephen Graham was excellent in the film and is back for this 4 part series.

Film was excellent. Top class acting and direction with a cool soundtrack.
Based on past experiences of TV 'spin offs' though I'd be pessimistic about it living up to the standard of the movie.
Obviously I'll still watch it though:)

I actually put a thread about this in 'Films' a few weeks ago.. as I thought it would probably be more suited there but yeah, looking forward to it.

Can't ****ing wait. Going to some serious music in it hopefully. The film soundtrack is one of the best. Just watched the film tonight on C4, first time watching it without crying my eyes out (well I shed a small tear)...the ad's rather gave away the cliffhanger for me ie.
Milky is in them so he clearly didn't die, I was always under the impression that he did.
Having a party tomorrow night for it, button up shirt and Toots and the Maytals album are ready!

Sorry Basquille, I should have checked the Film forum first. Anyone know if there's a CH4 +1? What with the Irish match and all.... ;)

Looking forward to seeing the reaction to Combo showing his face!

yea i cant wait to see what combo gets up to next and if hes a changed man. its centered around woody girlfriend Lol as far as i remember reading in a magazine so it will be interesting to see a girl as the focal character and she would get it rough of me must i add well fit ;)

    yup its pretty good.
nice to see Milky survived and Gadget's character seems to have come out of the nearest closest!

Yeah I was full sure he was dead at the end of the film. Getting a bit more serious and a bit of substance now.

looks like he might be getting more than a smooch off Smell!:D

Cracking stuff... a bit more light-hearted than the film but very well written, with some hilarious bits in it!

Found the scenes with Flip to be hilarious.

    Looking forward to more!

** wonders should this be moved to the Television forum and merged with a thread there **

Indeed, a great start. I found the scene between Shaun and Smell very moving as it showed us just how much of an impact Combo has had on him. Can't wait for more.

Smell still looks the exact same.. waaay too creepy!

Was interested to know how the scene between Shaun and Combo at the start in the car came about.. judging by Thomas Turgoose's youthful appearance, it must have been a deleted scene from the movie or something.

Enjoyed that, no vespa's though! Only those silly bikes the gang had, that was funny.

Gonna get the thread from the Films forum to be merged here as I've already put my point across there.

yeah it looks good, although i'd imagine watching all episodes together would be a lot better than having to wait a week for each episode.
also the soundtrack was pretty decent again, until it got to that last song thats used on the car crash ad here

Really was a great episode! The two lads sitting in your one's house (can't remember the lads' names or hers) were pretty funny: "Ya know what's weird? That has its own rug." Brilliant. :) Did anyone hear what Combo and Shaun were saying in the opening scene? I couldn't understand.

Great start. That scooter kid leader was hilarious - must've smoked hundreds of cigs to get his voice like that.

Is it not a bit odd that Woody and co. are now mates with the 2 older skinheads from Combo's gang? I can't remember them being friends in the film.

I think this is more suited to the TV forum.

Thought it was a little bleak actually. And not hard-hitting bleak like the film. Soft bleakness which left me a little cold. Hopefully it's just building up to something good. Shane Meadows shocks in his work. That just looked a bit like a cross between Coronation Street and Shameless.
    Too many ads too!

Heh, that bloke who was giving Shaun grief was good comic relief. Shut up ginge! :pac:

I found it was odd... but sort of wasn't!

They seemed quite close in the latter stages of the film, and Combo lashed out at both Keggy and Banjo, and they never were involved in the attack on Milky.

I found it odder than Shaun wasn't mates with the Woody & co.. am sure it'll be rectified shortly.

Flip was great.. so many great lines in those scenes:

"Get off the bike.. I'm not a f*cking homo!"
"Who would sit in that chair?"

    :D

Really, really enjoyed it. Loved the film and loved this, was in stitches nearly the whole way through. The scooter lads were a laugh, Joe Dempsie was great in skins and he's great in this.

Soundtrack was the business, some great tunes there. Dying for next week's episode already.

I liked it, more light-hearted than the film for sure though. Hoping it goes a bit darker in the next three episodes, and the trailers seem to suggest that it may indeed. I very much like these characters, fun people to be around. Not sure where they are going with some of the characters - Sean especially - but we have three episodes left to find out :) Didn't have the same impact as the film for me so far (rewatched it last night - the final fifteen minutes are extraordinary), but I look forward to discovering where Meadows and co. are going with these people.

And Smell looks even weirder in this :pac:
