Gyms/pools - is it / should it be against the law to have gym with no drinking water

    Ive seen on a few threads that there are gyms and pools with no (free) drinking water.

    Is this illegal? Should it be made illegal if its not?

    Pointing someone to a vending machine for water is pure scabby IMO.

    Agreed. A tap or bubbler isn't too much to ask for, although, I can see the point of not having either in a privately run centre that is taking the time and money to stock cold drinks for sale (from a business point of view)(but thats out the window if its a vending machine)....That said though, Its a small courtesy to fill a water bottle for someone.
    I guess it depends on the nature of the gym/pool, the kind of people that use it, and whether or not the owners/operators have to pay for water too.
    I still haven't found or used a pool or gym that doesn't have any drinking water.

    How would a name and shame campaign sound to the mods ??

    I don't have a problem with vending machines only. I think it's up to the members to bring their own water. If I forget (rarely) to bring water then I either do without or buy a bottle from the vending machine. I can't be bothered going over to the water fountain each time I get thirsty

    Having said that I do think providing a water source as a courtesy to members is a nice touch that would cost very little.

    Even vending machines are an improvement on my first experience with gyms. Many years ago in Dundrum gym members weren't permitted to have drinks in the gym area - presumably because someone thought that spilled water might be a hazard.
