This virus thing got onto my main computer, no programs will open and there is loads of pop ups coming up anytime I try to open something. Can't even get on the net on it.

Any ideas what I can do?

    Thanks.

Did you try boot up in safe mode and run a scan?

I'll try that now, quite inept when it comes to these things!

It's trying to stop me shutting the computer down now.

Hold the power button down for 5-8 seconds I think it is.

If it is "Total Security" ... it's scareware.

Have a read of this ... and see if it helps.

Moved to virus and malware removal.

Should also scan your computer with whatever Anti Virus you have, and also MalwareBytes and SUPER AntiSpyware, both free and available on download.com.

It literally won't let me open any application at all. Totally stumped. I'll probably bring it to the PC doctor (:pac:) as it seems fecked.

Read the "I think I have a virus" - Please Read & Try BEFORE Posting (Updated 12/02/2010) sticky and carry out as many of the instructions in that thread, then post the relevant logs here. Someone (probably ASJ112) will be along to help but only once you do those tasks.
