To stop ATM's being ripped out of walls .. Why can't the Money be stored in "boxes" that if mishandled will release the "paint" that can't be removed so "destroying" the Note's
Insurance companyies pay's to reprint the "New" replacement notes.

    To Stop Tiger kidnap's

Fill these "boxes" with 1000's if you leave the bank with them the detonate destroying the cash... Again Insurance companies pay for replacements...

The Technology is there.. Use it and make slight changes every 6 months to reduce the chances of the thieves finding a way around

And to F.F. and Company F*#% Off !!! We are taxed enough!!

And to any Banks that "want to bring this is in" ...You do Know we still have our Mattresses!!

It is adjusted straight away now. They changed it nearly a year ago after a series of laser card fraud.

Nope Transactions done on a Friday afternoon won't show till Monday at least with my account!!

would it be beyond the realms of posability to suggest that this was a government inside job, so then they would have the (feeble) excuse to implement this extra charge for using the ATM malarkey, (that Im still having difficulty in trying to figure out)

    Anyone ever hear of timelocks?

No doubt that this and other robberies are being staged by both the banks and authorities in order to usher in the cashless society

The ultimate goal of the cashless society is to strip you of your civil liberties and let the authorities digitally track all your personal movements and transactions.

Politicians should be required to take some sort of intelligence test before being allowed in to their role .

It appears that it only takes 1 person to unlock a vault... that is something I'd consider to be very wrong...

Depends on who operates the merchant terminal you use in the shop - if it's a BOI one and you bank with BOI it will be instant. If it's a BOI one and you bank with Ulster Bank, it will be posted overnight though there should be a hold put on the funds.

Gang kidnaps your burd tell you to go into work and tell your colleagues to give you the cash or the burds gets it. You go in, have to tell them you're taking the cash, hang around until the time lock comes off, wait for the key holders to give you the cash which they will do because they know you and work with you and don't want your burd to get dead. You take the cash drop it off where instructed and she's released somewhere else.

    Hard to combat really.

Just when you think stupid ideas could have been a thing of the past for our government, he comes out with the gem of an idea to start taxing ATM transactions to reduce the amount of tiger raids. How you even make the link between ATM charges and reducing bank raids is beyond me. One has nothing to do with the other.

Introducing a tax per ATM charge will not reduce the amount of cash 'swilling about the place' and it will not reduce the amount of cash held by banks. If anything it will increase it. People will not want to get hit with a charge every time they need some cash so instead of taking out €20-50 when they need it people will empty their accounts on pay day.

Instead of targeting the hard working, tax paying citizens of this country why don't you look at your own roll in all this? What have YOU done to help prevent any of this from happening? Have you increased the Garda numbers on the street? Have you set mandatory minimum jail sentences for people caught committing crimes like this? How about a 20 year minimum sentence with no early release for good behaviour for people convicted of this? That’s sure to make them think twice now isn't it? How about increasing prison space to keep people like this off the streets? Have you considered forcing the banks to install monitored alarms and panic buttons into the home of each bank employee with access to branch funds? If they want to protect their money they have to protect their staff!

The truth is you haven't done anything because you’re a useless f*** just like the rest of your incompetent party!

Charges on withdrawing money from an ATM means people will withdraw more money in one go. Which will likely lead to more people getting mugged.

But hey, who cares about the people so long as the insured banks are alright?

These boxes can't be opened out of Hour's and only with a Code sent to the bank from "head office" By two 0r senior bank staff... and require anyone needing "lump sum's" to give a longer notice period!!

Have only 30K (Or whatever enought for day to day business need, available as required) in CASH!!

WHY ARE WE GIVING THEM THE MONEY WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE!!!

    MAKE IT HARDER !!

Did ye not think that by making it harder to steal the cash the gangs might just give up and sign on the dole instead - then we'd have to find the cash to pay their benefits?

Jeez - what's wrong with you people.

Grand and I agree for the individual, but not so good for the economy. You want money flowing. Going cashless will reduce that. The other problem is you wont stop the black market or criminal activities. They'll just use a different system(I use paypal for a lot of my transactions, waaay more than I use my credit card. None of the long winded bank transfer/cheque/draft BS), or worse may even use a different currency. A lot of countries will accept US dollars on the ground rather than their own. Personally I'd rather have the Euro replace the dollar in that capacity. Better for the eurozone. IMHO going cashless will reduce confidence in any currency that does it. It also complicates the process by adding the banking layer. Not so good. I hand you a tenner for something, that's it, job done in seconds. I hand you a laser card? Well you need to be able to log that. Then I need to wait to see my balance. And the banks are in the middle, with the taxman right behind.

I'm not one to go all tinfoil hat on stuff, but I have to agree with a lot of what RTDH is saying on this point. If you wanted to build a system which tracks people and their purchases and then tax same, then this is a bloody good way to do it. The EU are pushing for this cashless notion in a big way. Much of it peopled by individuals we haven't voted for(some have never been voted for by anyone) and people we cant vote out. I love the eurozone, I am no eurosceptic, nor am I some conspiracy nutter, which is the usual response of some who are all for this kinda thing. I would go along with a lot of what Tony Benn in the UK would be saying on the matter. All in all not good.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

So a charge is the answer, I wonder was the idea of making kidnapping a 30 year sentence mooted at all?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,307 ✭✭✭stephendevlin

TBH... I don't recall hearing this happening to TSB / Ulster Bank / AIB...

I know there was another recently, didn't see which company though. But when these started getting really common over the last couple of years it was primarily BOI I was hearing about... They need to sort themselves out...

    Edit:
Read over link in OP and see that the recent bank was an AIB branch...

I made this sh1t up thats why its not happening! :D

Well in the US you have security guards that can actually do their jobs. They carry guns etc.
Over here a security guard is essentially for show because to touch someone would be assault I believe.

Would be nteresting if a tiger kidnap gang abducted the husband/wife of a couple that hated each other. Go and get the money or we will execute her, man goes for a couple of pints leaving the gang wondering what happened

Also if I was in one of these tiger kidnap gangs and I knew that there was paint ready to explode if I tampered with the lock of the safe/atm, I would freeze the lot and then open it. Defrost the money and put the paint bomb in the bin or come up with some interesting way to dispose of it

thank christ some of you realise that this has nothing to do with tiger kidnapping and everything to do with the moola the gov is losing in taxes thanks to cash in hand black economy labour.

tiger kidnaping involve taking money from the VAULT anyway. not the ATMs. the focus of the charge on them is about stopping joe public using them and possbily using it to avail of tax free services (nixers) .

to be brutally honest this crap has been going on for years, theres banks out there right now that refuse to deal in cash as it costs them an arm and a leg to transport and store and Govs LOVE the idea of being able to account for every transaction in the country as it'd mean the death of the black economy.

its the main drive of the cashless society as far as the government is conscerned.

they really couldnt give a monkeys abourt some random employee's missus getting kidnapped.
