Does anyone know why when you buy in the Asian Markets or even in Tesco’s tin/can of chestnuts they are not split? They are sold more or less still whole in the can and brine but you need to split them at least twice. Now, when you get a Chinese meal out they are always split and as we know the Chinese sell everything in every variety so there must be some reason why they are sold whole but I have never found out why?

No idea ! But know that if you buy the BIG BIG can, like the 6lb cans in the chinese shops they are defintely split! Think that's why when you get water chesnuts in a chinese meal- cause they buy the BIG cans instead of the small ones ! :D
