anybody know a reliable bloke in the Lucan area? sorry, havent been in Ireland that long. It's a problem with the plug in the bathroom sink. part of the mechanism came loose and fell down into the pipe so now the actual plug is stuck (but just slightly below it's normal 'closed' position). i've tried using a knife and screwdiver to prise it out but the gap between the plug and the sink hole is too narrow.

Is it a pop up waste? ie has a rod that controls it from the back of the tap?

If so you will find the rod underneath the basin, where it comes out of the waste, pulling it downwards, should raise up the stopper.

If this isnt it, a picture would help.

yeah that sounds like it. i pushed the rod underneath the basin up & down but the pop up in the sink doesnt budge...so i presume it's disconnected??

Its not actually physically connected, it just sits on top of it in the waste. You are moving the rod that goes into the waste (horizontal one), as opposed to the one coming down from the tap?

A picture might help explain it better
