I used to work there while in college, but I got the job back in 2004 so things may well have changed since then. I remember they seemed keen on telling me a situation and then asking how I would react - for example a really busy store, telephone ringing, serving a customer, other staff member asking for help. How would you deal with it?

Also, they asked me how to explain a computer to someone from the middle ages (pretty much seeing if you can explain things really simply to an old person or whatever).

They also reacted well to me talking about how interested I was in the telecoms industry and how I loved phones.

Sorry I can't remember more but it was a little too long ago now! :)

In terms of working there, it was all about the bill pay phones and trying to add on things like insurance, accessories etc on to the sale. The higher the tariff the better generally. Everything is measured week on week and you will be ranked on where you are in the country overall on all the key stats. Meteor pay as you go phones are also good to sell.

Dealing with angry customers is a huge part of the job. Returns and broken phones are a bit of a nightmare, as is trying to call some of the customer care lines at the weekend to try and deal with it. You get a lot of the 'I know my rights' crowd.

Other tasks you'd be expected to do are processing the returns back to Head Office, stock takes, weekly banking and also moving the phones on the wall around every month and putting the new offers up.

I really liked working there but it's not to everyone's taste. You're working with a lot of idiots too and there's a lot of pressure to sell. PM me if you want any more info, but I left in 2006 so it's all a bit out of date!
