The term "art" has no place in the rational world. Everything is art! It's so inclusive it's meaningless. The logic behind discerning art from non-art is completely flawed imo. The art scene is just a big game of emporer's new clothes that people buy into because it gives them a sense of intellectual superiority*.

I listen to music, watch films even read the odd book- this isn't "art" it's entertainment.

I can marvel at the skill required in creating a detailed and accurate picture/sculpture. But these aren't "art", they're ways of recording information.

I can even think some things (man made or not) look beautiful or interesting and like anyone I'll spend time and money picking out clothes to wear and items to decorate my home (I'm not saying we should live in a dull monotonous world).

The point is I'm not codding myself with any of this "deeper meaning" bull****. If these people are so creative, why don't they put that creativity to use and invent stuff to improve our lives, or at least provide us with some proper entertainment?

Or if rather than being creative, they just have a good idea of what's visually appealing, why not add to the world and become an architect, a web-designer or a hair stylist etc.?

I had an idea for a sketch that involves a reporter visiting the "national institute of advanced science" and showing the audience all the amazing things science is achieving, then visiting the "national institute of advanced art" where we see some loonies running around throwing paint on each other and babbling faux-meaningful nonsense such as "we're all connected to mother earth through the ground".
Even pornographers manage to contribute more to society than the "art scene" :pac:.

Of course convincing an "artist" that "art" is a load of bull**** is like convincing a priest that religion is a load of nonsense.....

I have one question for you art-heads though. Is that fine piece of ass in the video considered "art"?

*I'll conceed that perhaps some teenage homosexuals who don't feel they fit in may feel drawn to the "art world" because traditionally it was a lot more tolerant towards homosexuality than other parts of society.
