+1 Seriously though, it can be a bit of a drag on your own, but last year in the big group, I never even noticed it until we were down the other side!

Went for a sping out to Annestown and around to Dunhill from Tramore tonight.

Seems they've filled in all the pot holes on the road.

The Road Surface from Dunhill to the R682 is terrible though.

For anyone carboloading on Saturday night or just going on the pi$$ on Sunday night can I recommend my buddies' beers ? They're available from most pubs in Dungarvan.
Very tasty and locally brewed, I'll be tucking into them after the 160km on Sunday, I highly recommend the Copper Coast.

Weather forecast isn't looking too promising for tomorrow, maybe all those Lidl rainjackets and shower caps will get an outing.

Just had a couple of them, very tasty. Every pub here seems to be well stocked.

90k was a good tough spin, very well organised though. How the hell can you manage 1500 cyclists!

    Well done everyone

Great fun, the hills on the 90k were way way tougher than I expected. Could someone link me to their Garmin of the 90k please, my battery died about 40k in... forgot to charge it.

Many thanks to Stokolan for taking my mind off a hill or two while chatting as well!

that just doesn't sound pleasent, was it windy much down there? quite a strong northly wind this morning in dub...was pushing 280watts doing 20km/hr on the coast road...kinda depressing!

not sure i'd have liked powers pot with a huge head wind!

I hate whoever added in that long drag after Mahan Falls in. Really wasnt expecting it and took whatever little was left in me!

Very shocked by the amounts of accidents today, poor ambulance crew wer pretty busy and really hope everyone is ok!

    6.30 rolling for me.

Even though im sore...had a great day!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,488 ✭✭✭TheBlaaMan

Had a great day on the 90k. My first sportif and finished in 3:25 rolling time. One short break in Tramore (queues too big to bother with the feed - had some sarnies) and although I'd done the two halfs of the route before, it was my longest run to date (6 months back on the pedals). I knew only too well what to expect on the return to Dungarvan :D and was dreading Kilmurrin Cove and the climb out of Bunmahon with 60k already in the legs, but well pleased with managing both by tagging along in a group of (better) riders. Something must be wrong........I think I was enjoying the pain.

Meas mor to the folks who tackled the 160 - I've been over that a few times on my (motor)bike and its a serious hard route. Not for me, I know me limits !

Huge thanks to the organisers for a great day ! And also great to see the locals along the route out cheering us on and even setting up a water stop at one spot after Bonmahon.

Just back home from the SKT 90km

Firstly I'd like to say what a brilliant event it was, great job by the 800 odd volunteers and the people who cheered us all the way, it really made you dig in when the hills and the vicious headwind on the way back were doing there best to demoralise you.

Anyways I am thrilled with my ride.

    Time Rolling: 3hrs 45mins
    Avg Speed: 23.6kph
    Distance: 88.9km

I reckon the amount of climbing must be getting on for 1000m, anyone with a non phone GPS able to confirm?

Thank god for the uber Granny ring on my hybrid, gave me some respite on some of the exceptionally steep bits.

Will be back there next year for sure!

Again a good day out, the surfaces are getting much better year on year (well done waterford county council- the next project is surely the back road from carrick to clonmel and if possible the descent from mahon falls). I didn't see any accidents today and in generally the standard of riding was much better than in previous years i.e. safe overtaking, plenty of warning calls down the line etc. Congrats to everyone who took part and again a big thank you to all the marshals, stewards and organisers for all their effort.
Spotted a few boardsies about but wasn't talking to anyone (Quigs Snr and RAAM i recognised from their bikes and there were a few others wearing the new kit).
