Lend me your ears for a moment.
Just watching *ahem* xfactor *ahem* and they had a singer on just now, and I could have sworn it sounded like when you put a vocal through Auto-tune. I'm probably wrong but would like to know if anyone else thinks so too.
I have suspicions that they decide after shooting the audition process who they want to push and maybe they'd even go this far!

Sounds like it to me anyway. The one that sang Dont Stop Believing sounded like she had it on also.

Not really up on auto tune that much but surely if it's used right you aren't mean to notice it. I know it's become a fad to make vocals sound autotuned but why would you wan't to do it on a 'singing' competition.

shakes head in disbelief that simon and the rest of the henry ford production line pop industry would even use it in a contest to find some one who can actually sing....:)....must be the music is better any way lol

Definately, came on here to start a thread about it, even my 16 year old sister pointed it out. It's shocking how badly done it is!

No question about it, on the girl singing "Dont stop believing" it was even more blatant, What I cant figure is, why would you do it ? The girl from Zimbabwe possibly, if she was a favorite but the other one was part of a joke act . Very strange indeed.

I'm kinda of a different opinion... maybe it's auto-tune, but it also kinda sounded like weird digital artifacting...

don't know... not AS sure as other are... then again I don't watch it... so maybe they all use it...

coulda been weird wireless interference or something...

Im pretty sure its auto tune or some other pitch correction (not melodyne as it doesent work live) i can hear the something quite clearly affecting the pitch modulation and drift leaving very noticable artifacts

I doubt they are using it live but they are definitely touching up the "good" singers before they broadcast. All of the semi good singers sounded tuned and blatantly too. Is there no shame?

I doubt the sound people are that bad that they would sign off on it if it was done post performance.

Or, in a twisted bit of logic they thing that sound sells.

I think it was done live though, badly. Only cause I dont wanna believe they would do the above.

I would guess it was done post. in the clip with the 2 singers it was on the girl and not the guy. How would they know when or if to use it. If it had been on the guy it would be Tpain here we come:confused:

They know when to use it because every act has already been auditioned by a panel of producers. No act ends up on stage in front of the audience without being through another audition first. They know exactly what to expect from each act.
Autotune could have been done pre or post. If it was done at all. There is some effect being used. That is certain.

No, all I'm saying is that they know what the acts sing like before they go on stage having already been vetted in an off screen audition.

thats true they actually do two off screen ones with show producers this is also how they have a very slight idea what the person will sing and if they are nuts and want to shoot simon

The show portrays itself as a modern day Opportunity Knocks, a show where ANYBODY from any background can come good. After hearing that Linda Martin had trained Jedward before they were launched in the most contrived PR stunt ever, this is a new low.

Has nobody copped on, this show is not about creating singers with longevity, it's about lengthening the profits of Cowell and his bitch (Walsh)... They give each year's winner a record deal, get the xmas number one, then after that year they pull away from them and start thinking about the next year's winner. They are killing music and opportunities for real musicians.

It is just a publicity grabber.
It's no coincidence, they engineer some story at the start of every season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

I don't get why they bothered doing it really.

    they have actually admitted it..

I think this is really bad. its giving kids a false idea of what a majority of singers can do live when they are supposedly just 'normal' people

It's true, she said it on the Mooney Show one day... Louis spotted them and had them groomed over here before sending them back over to "audition"..

Interview with Linda Martin about JEdward

    but yet she says

"I met up with them after seeing the audition they'd done on The X Factor."

that suggests after she saw their first audition naturally he'd want them to be trained a bit.

But yes I do agree most of that whole thing was set up, especially simon being negative with them.
