I do not understand what you were hoping to achieve by making those comments to the air hostess. Did you expect him to thrown off the plane because of it? Why did you make those comments?

Perhaps his girlfriend likes his natural smell and he was just not washing for her? Have some respect for me him.

Old Irish saying (I don't have the original, if it's as gaeilge):

There is no-one stronger than a man sitting in his own shit.

OP when you travel with the swine in economy you sometimes have to put up with their smells.

Sheesh the cheek of you peasants these days.

    :pac:

    BTW what airline was it?

I actually can't believe this thread is still open... OP was obviously looking for someone to agree with him, and no one to object, and has little consideration for anyone, or put little thought into the REASONS as to why said passenger smelled like that.

Absolutely no reason to say anything to the air hostess though, just trying to be the funny man on the flight, and on AH.

    Failed miserably.

That comment about a dead body was unfair. Dead bodies, often referred to as corpses, are usually washed before they get into the coffin! Other dead bodies, often referred to as corpses get eaten by crabs in the sea of hyenas in the African bush...

If you live in a society you follow the rules. Washing might just be one. Otherwise you go to live in the bush and your remains get eaten by hyenas.

Horses provide excellent steaks. As any French person. :pac:

nice try Erica - but your contribution was contradictory to my question I put to AH.
So, you don't agree with what I said to the cabin Crew - but lots of people round me on the flight agreed with me when they over heard what I said. And I'd say it again, in a heartbeat - and if it was you that stank beside me on the flightr, I'd say it to you - don't care.
Then you said horse's smell (many did'nt agree), you work with them daily, but then weekly, then yada yada yada .......if you can't follow/add to the thread, don't bother pet.
ohhh, and this is AH, not the PC forums........grow a set.;)

As they were passing over the Irish sea they could have thrown the smelly arsehole out the emergency exit with a complementary wash bag.

In this day and age horrible smelling body odour is not something one should put up with, especially not in a confined environment such as a plane. Of course there may be reasons why the smell was so bad but the OP couldn't have known that. I think he should have paid some respect to his body before mingling with total strangers on board a plane and releasing his pungent odour to the unfortunate punters.

Two days without a shower, even without access to deodorant for that two days, isn't gonna cause even a fraction of the pong the OP describes though.
Agreed. We've all been caught short once or twice, forgot to shower or use deodorant, noticed our own BO and felt embarrassed, but this is nothing like that, this is career-level hygiene neglect. It goes way beyond missing a shower or two. People who smell dry-retch bad are very rare, but if you had to spend time around one, you wouldn't mistake it for someone who didn't have time to shower for 2 days. There's no way you can grow a stink-fog that people 10 feet away can taste in that amount of time.

I suppose the problem with having a policy on this stuff is where to draw the line. But 1 person making 20 people gag on a flight doesn't seem fair, just because they have some personal problem or other.

But you didn't have the balls to say it to the actual stinky guy on the plane...... maybe it's you who needs to grow that set.

Honestly, if someone smelled that bad, I'd be thinking medical condition or something. Like others have said, a few days with no shower isn't the best but is only really mildly unpleasant. I used to know a girl with some sort of long term illness and she smelled really bad, she was aware of it but there really wasn't much she could do. She showered twice a day and wore deodorant but it didn't really help. I'd always consider something like that before making a nasty comment.
